Default Universal announces new style double packs

Quote:
Universal Launches Blu-ray Value Packs
Posted March 30, 2010 05:59 AM by Juan Calonge

Universal Studios Home Entertainment has announced that on May 11, it will release nine Blu-ray value packs, priced at $34.98 MSRP. Each of them contains two catalog movies, bundled by genre. Unlike other recent double features on Blu-ray, these packs contain the movies in separate cases, held together side by side (or back to back) with what is known in the industry as a "belly band."

The packs are as follows:
Dawn of the Dead / Land of the Dead
Doomsday / End of Days
Fletch / Bruce Almighty
Hulk / Doom
Inside Man / Children of Men
Jarhead / Friday Night Lights
The Rundown / Spy Game
The Strangers / The Thing
U-571 / Waterworld

Not a bad deal for someone eying any pair of these.

Too bad they aren't going to be offered for the same price as Warner does with their double packs

I could definitely see Best Buy/Amazon/Wal-mart having really good prices on these. They come in separate cases at least, like I wish WB's would.

I never think the pairings are very good- except for the obvious sequels

Not a bad idea, but of course I already own one movie from each two-pack.

Unless the prices on these are going to be LOW, I don't think they'll sell very much. Not very popular titles for Blu- I.M.O. Although I don't like two features on 1 BD at least the Warner titles were fan favorites.
