Default An idiot whose prediction is that Blu-ray will lose.

so apparently some moron predicted that blu ray will lose the formats. although some of the statements made were correct like the price for the players and some of the technologies for bda that was promised and still is unavailable yet he still predicts its loss.

what a MORON...

All from the guy who's been predicting Apple will pull out of the market completely.

First let me say that media outlets that publish articles whose only reference is an article that has no source reference material should result in a date with a chair and a needle followed by a dirt nap. Then again, I am a Texan and we are all gun toting whackos down here.

I read that article in a different way. He seems to be mildly calling into question Rob Enderle's credibility.

He's quoting Rob Enderle as previously predicting Blu-ray would win but has not switched to HD-DVD as his predicted winner.

This is probably the biggest bunch of BS that's appeared yet. Puts Amir to shame.

Rob Enderle has been on the Toshiba payroll from the beginning and has never predicted anything good for Blu-ray. Worst part is that he's good at getting himself quoted, probably one of the best. The reason you see him all over the place now is that they've fired him up again following the $150 million bribe of Paramount.

Did you see the new HD-DVD deal at Amazon? I am sick to my stomach.

What is the BDA doing to counteract their influx of money into the format wars? A Disney castle at a shopping mall doesn't do it for me.

I am so ticked off now(my headache isn't helping).

Is Amazon's having a firesale? Is this the end of the format wars and we don't know it yet? Is the BDA run by complete morons who can't even ante up 150 million in promotional items? I've been reading too much negative news and forum posts. I just want to see something BIG. What did they do with all the money when we bought the discs? Grrrr!!!!!!

Sorry but I am burying this post here in a thread instead of making a new thread. Time to take some Advil. That guy is nuts and what is happening is also way out there. I can't believe this.

*lol* I thought that last sentence was funny

Yeah I do think BDA needs to act fast, 20th Century Fox should of acted quicker instead of waiting for something like Paramout to switch sides then finally got their ass up and did something about it. Sony needs to release a product quickly to compete with the $300 price tag of a HD-DVD player. Hell if they did release one shortly, I'll buy one for my Girlfriend

What the BDA group needs to do is fine some way of getting Warner on to the BD side.

Not only WB but get Universal exclusive too.
"You want 500 million? Here you go." I would love to see Paramount swinging all alone on the tree.

Edit: Actually we are at 8 free movies now too. I just had to page down to see the special.

believe me i understand your frustration. and many things could lead to it, bd had a great major announcemnt going, like

1) Blockbusters announces exclusive BD rental.
2) Target announces exclusive BD sales.
3) BD sales not only topped HDDVD sales, but murdered it.
then HDDVD retaliates by:
4) Paramount/dreamworks announces HDDVD exclusivity.

the 4th point whether we like it or not, was a major blow to BD. THE BD GROUP NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

I highly doubt that Universal would ever go BD since they are part of the HD-DVD group. Though, when sales of HD-DVD movies have dropped down to 10% versus 90% blu-ray, it might be more realistic then.

I agree, I would luv to see Paramount regret the day they said F-U to us Blu-ray owners over greed.

since paramount gave us the middle finger, we should give them that finger back. not literally of course but by boycotting their products as if they don't exist.

I don't think BluRay really needs to do anything, honestly. If anything, 'losing' Paramount(I use that term in the loosest sense possible, considering the lack of desirable Paramount movies that are available anyway) and seeing a net effect of..nothing..on BluRay vs. HDDVD sales is all the statement that is needed. I thought it was dirty that Paramount essentially took a bribe, and it would be just as dirty for BR to bribe Warner(trying to factor in Universal just isn't realistic, sadly they're not going to be a consideration for BR until the format war is truly over).

If someone hit you, wouldn't you stand up to yourself and fight back? same way with the format war. you shouldn't take a hit lightly, you should always stand up to yourself and fight back. Same way with WAR. you invade you should expect resistance. I really think the BD group should do something. in Chess offense always is the best way to win the game, compared to defense. Its the ART OF WAR.

I don't condone violence in any context, so no, if someone hit me I wouldn't fight back..what would that prove/accomplish? Similarly, it's a logical fallacy to say that offense is more likely to win in Chess than defense.

That aside, I get what you're saying. If Sony wants to come up with some kind of incentive to combat this(a cheaper BluRay player or something), that's cool. But I completely disagree with the notion that Toshiba/MS played dirty, so now BluRay should as well. Two wrongs don't make a right.

On an unrelated note, it's always stuck me as odd that Toshiba and MS, both companies which release products that are typically low quality, are spearheading HDDVD, and no one has a problem with this. Compared to Sony whom, in fairness, is typically more expensive than it's competitors, but the product quality is always better at the same time. And in the case of the PS3, it is the *best* high definition player available period, and is less expensive than other high-end HDDVD or BluRay players.

after all this is a business competition, and are intended to hurt each other just to gain profits. in this case MS/Toshiba pulled the trigger by converting paramount. Sony as a business, needs to start to protect its assets and profits, and the only way they can do it, is by pulling the trigger back right at MS/Toshiba.
