It has happened to me: missing disc - Blu-ray Forum

I had it happen at best buy too. Picked up We Were Soldiers, still wrapped from the factory. When I opened it up no disc. Took it back and they had no trouble switching it out for a new one. Guy popped it open there to be sure it had a disc in it.

hahaha, that definitely sucks. contact amazon immediately and tell them that they messed up. don't say anything else but THAT THEY MESSED UP, AND NEED TO FIX THE PROBLEM ASAP.

It happened to me twice at Best Buy. Once a long time ago and once last month. I picked up Silent Hill on blu-ray and took it home to watch it, but when I opened it up, it was empty. The guy at BB looked at me like I was crazy when I tried to return the empty case for a new movie. Finally he believed me and let me exchange it.

Yes, it happened to me once. Fortunately, I opened it right in the car as I walked out of the store. It was the first season of Buffy and the third disc was missing. I went right back into the store and exchanged it without a problem.

I had the opposite, when I bought the Star Wars: Rebellion computer game my jewel case had TWO copies of the CD stuffed into it!

Which was handy for playing multiplayer with a friend hehe.

I had something similar happen to me, when I purchased Babel I opened the case and I found a blank DVD inside, not an empty Blu-ray, but an empty DVD.

you got me alittle worried now cause i normally buy blu-rays and dont open them until i want to watch it. maybe i need to check to see if the discs are in there first.

i had a friend who bought a game that wasn't in there from walmart, and it took 30 min of *****ing before they replaced it. although ive opened lots of movies and games only to have some tabs broken and a disc flopping around in the case all scratched up. i always check mine before i at least leave the parking lot.

It's not common, it happens, but I can count how many times I've noticed it when I worked rental [typically process through 2k discs a week for new releases at my store], and I've only seen that happen a few times.

Course, rental stock is different due to the distributor usually being nice and not mailing them completely sealed.

I actually returned a disc to Blockbuster and they must be on to this trick, because the person taking care of it checked all the edges to make sure they hadn't been slit. I don't think it would be too easy to do it in the store also, I think this is why a lot of the new discs have the locks on the cases so they can't be pried open.
