Default PS3 - turn off the turn on feature on the controller?

I leave my controller laying around and my wife who likes to tidy picks it up puts it away and a few hours later i hear my ps3 dying of heat exhaustion inside the tv cabinet.

Is there away that if i press the ps button on the controller it doesnt turn the ps3 on? or am i gonna have to start swithing it off at the back?

thanks

I have the same problem. You could turn the power off from the back, but that would mean u have to get up to turn it on

This may sound silly but why not just put it away yourself instead of leaving it out for her to have to pick up?

If you store them in a place with your infinite other remotes I have learned to turn all PS3 controllers and remotes upside-down so that when any one digs around for a TV remote (or drop a remote in by cleaning up) the PS3 button is less likely to get bumped.....It's a pet peeve to come home from work and see the unit gasping for air in a closed cabinet, and you have no idea how long its been going.

why is your ps3 in a TV cabinet, it needs to be in open air!

same reason why i have a crap small hdtv in their cause the wife has to have a "armoire" so she can close away the tv (which she never does). One day we will get a bigger house and i can have a man room.

Is the auto-turn off controller working? Last couple nights I leave my PS3 turned on to fold, and left controller on figuring it would auto shut off after the update, and it has not done so.

Is anyone else leaving controller on and having it now shut off?

This is best when coupled with the automatic start of folding@home running advanced simulations.

When that happened to me it sounded like a 747 was preparing for take-off inside my entertainment cabinet
