Default Quick Query About Bias Lighting Kits for an Edge-Lit 4K LCD...

Getting close to pulling the trigger on something like the Loominoodle bias kit for my Samsung NU8000 due to my inability to deal with the blooming and ridiculous flashlighting in the dark (thanks to the members here who suggested the kit, such as Chip and StingingVelvet), but had a quick question about it:

I understand these plug into the TV's USB port for auto power up/down, but if there's no way to control their intensity, can anyone tell me if the white light they emit is TOO bright for a room? Is the bias lighting that glows from the back overpowering, rendering a screen to look somewhat "smaller" than it actually is, if that makes any sense?

Or is it more of a softer white glow?
