Unlike The Mandalorian, the seventh season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, The Book of Boba Fett, or the current Obi-Wan Kenobi. At least Paramount gives Star Trek fans who are not Paramount+ subscribers a chance to see new content on physical media.

I understand The Walt Disney Company's desire to attract new viewers to its streaming service, but I don't agree with the company's apparent decision to keep all of its Disney+ Original Star Wars content out of physical media permanently.

Anyway, back on topic...I have the Picard: Season Two steelbook on pre-order.

It is very frustrating that Disney is not releasing shows like that on disc for sure. Hell, I would even be happy if they would release seasons after they have been on streaming for a year. Just make them available in the future. Same for many other shows like Homeland....first 7 seasons released..then Disney took over and the last one never came out. So yeah, I applaud the fact that Star Trek series are still getting releases.

I have Disney +.It and HBO Max are the only two streaming services i have.Even with having Disney +,I still would buy the physical releases of all the Marvel and live action Star Wars shows.

Discovery didn't get 4K releases, why would they start now? We should be thankful CBS/Paramount releases their shows on physical media, specifically BD, at all.

Plus, only WB shows, with the exception being Stranger Things, have been released on 4K.

There is not 4K to subscripe to (yet). The version on CBS All Access is Full HD with DV/HDR. Netflix streams Discovery in the same way.

Not to mention that 4K streams from streaming services is usually only marginally better than HD unless you have extremely good internet speeds. I have fiber and get around 700-800 Mbps and the difference and compression in resolution between HD and 4K is usually marginal at best. However, it's the HDR that makes a big difference IMHO.

I'm fine with Picard not getting a 4k...
It doesn't deserve the time, unfortunately.

I'll blind buy it for around $25 or less, but Paramount can go to hell if they think I am paying more than $30 or subscribing to CBS' shitty streaming service.

Happy it's on Blu-ray, but not thrilled such a new big-budget series isn't getting 4K - though it's hardly alone in that. Discovery hasn't gone 4K Blu-ray either, among many others like the HBO Watchmen limited series.

I wonder if Discovery and Picard will come to 4K once the series are complete. That could be cool.
