If it's one of my favorite movies, I'll do it.

Normally for the picture and sound. But I also like bonus features.. like if it was originally a 1 disc. I love buying those 2 disc unrated cuts and such.

Picture & Sound #1 for me. Why buy something on Blu just because it's on Blu? I bought a Blu Ray player because I want my movies on High Def, not because I want to rebuy the same films I already own with a picture & sound quality I already have.

A lot of early Blu-ray movies on 25GB discs suffered from low quality encodes. And pretty much 90% of WB releases do with a few exceptions(Harry potter 5 and Blade Runner come to mind).

I'd like PQ to be upgraded on a bunch of previous releases..I'd re-buy them.

I bought the remastered Fith Element Blu-ray when it got double dipped.

I'm actively trying to buy titles that I don't think will require a double dip, and avoiding titles that I already smell double dip on.

If I'm going from DVD to blu-ray, then it is a no brainer. Double dipping on a blu-ray title will take a bit more coaxing out of me.

My first double dip on blu could be coming soon with warner's Goodfellas: SE.

Other then that I wont double dip on many blu's as I'm still trying to upgrade dvd to blu.. let alone blu to a better blu

One that I refuse to double-dip, Live Free Die Hard UNRATED on Blu-ray.

I'm holding out... even though it will probably be 2 years.

It generally has to be one of my all time favorites, and would need a pig PQ/AQ upgrade along with the a boatload of extras.

Oh, I thought this was double dipping DVD to Blu, I didn't know you meant Blu to Blu.

I highly doubt I'll double dip on Blu's like I did DVD's. It would have to blow me away to even consider it, or they would have to be super cheap. More special features or a BOGO won't be enough, and if the picture/sound isn't top tier I woulnd't buy it on Blu to begin with.

Sorry...but is double dipping buying something that you already own on DVD for the sake of an upgrade?

Or is double dipping buying a movie on Blu-Ray for your home theater, but also recognizing that you need an SD version to play on your SD only devices (like portable players, vehicle players, etc...)

To me, double dipping is the latter... The former is a question of an upgrading strategy...

The question isn't clear whether double dipping is the same title on DVD and BD or on two releases of the same title on BD or on HD DVD and BD for those of you who adopted HD DVD.

But regardless, any improvement in picture and sound will pique my interest.

He meant buying a certain movie on Blu now, and then buying it again in the future if it's re-released.

I wanted to grab Van Wilder but the reviews were sub par so I left it. If the studio doesn't take the time to produce the best picture and sound then I don't buy it regardless if its a favorite or not.

Ah...okay, so neither of my interpretations

Okay, that makes sense... Buy on blu...then buy on blu yet again...

There's a SE of Goodfellas coming out?! F@#k! I just ordered the $15 current version from Amazon. Any idea when it'll be out?

I'll do it if for a longer or DC cut of a film. I'm holding out buying certain DVDs as they are the shorter cuts. Eg:
- Independence Day
- Die Hard 4.0

Some DVDs I've double dipped a lot purely for PQ upgrades.

I believe that it DVD only.

I've seen nothing about a Blu release from what Bill Hunt wrote.
