Default John Carpenter?

don't think I've seen any JC movies released, but :
Big trouble in little China
The thing
In the mouth of madness
Ghosts of Mars
Escape from New York
Prince of darkness
Halloween
should be references in a Blu-ray collection ...

Halloween has been out since last October and was released by Starz/Anchor Bay. It looks and sounds great too. The Thing is by Universal and has only been released on hd dvd. I would love to get Big Trouble In Little China, and Escape From New York two of Kurt Russel's best movies. However since I can't remember who owns the rights to these it's hard to say if they get released on Blu or not.

The Fog is an excellent small budget ghost story. Not scary but atmospherical as hell. I think it is by MGM. I think Escape from New York may be MGM as well. The Thing, which I consider to be his best movie and one of the scariest movies ever made, is by Universal.

I wish the guy would make more movies, but when he does they tell him he can't have a big budget, cannot use CGI, can only have a few stars, and he must do the music himself. Of course The Thing had a pretty decent budget, but that was the last of his movies that truly blew me away. By the way, Halloween had the highest profit margin of any movie until My Big Fat Greek Wedding.

I read in a great review of Halloween: "Mike Myers only murdered promoscious girls, and left alive the only non-promosocious girl...is Mike Myers a moralist?"

MGM has the rights for ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK, which would make it a Blu-shoo-in, as well as THE FOG. IN THE MOUTH OF MADNESS is from New Line. Sadly, PRINCE OF DARKNESS and THEY LIVE are Universal titles, along with the aforementioned THE THING. VAMPIRES, CHRISTINE, and GHOSTS OF MARS are Sony titles, while ESCAPE FROM L.A. is not only crap, but also a Paramount title.

Oh, and BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA is FOX!

The Thing kicks ass. Too bad its under a Universal flag. The Fog was on on tv this morning, only caught the last 15 minutes. Saw that in the theater many years ago when I had hair.

Yeah, but Halloween 2 was directed by Rick Rosenthal, with Carpenter just throwing in some extra gore scenes he shot later, so I didn't figure it counted! LOL

I'd love to get a hold of The Thing and Big Trouble in Little China on blu!!
Halloween is awesome... PQ and AQ! You would never guess that this movie is 30 years old if it wasn't for bad haircuts and clothes they're wearing
