Does anyone think sony will announce a new ps3 at GDC? - Blu-ray Forum

i think they will announce new colors of ps3. (i.e. White and Silver.)

They should realise a new model!

PS3 is a multimedia centre, so if 40Gb is all were getting that isn't to impressive!

My 60Gb is slowly dissapearing!

I do not expect an announcement at GDC, but I hope that I am wrong.

New colors and a beefed up HDD would be great! Anything less than 250 gb is a joke for such an awesome machine. (I realize that it will probably only be 120 or 160gb)

Slapping a new HDD into the PS3 is hardly news but I think it will happen. It makes sense for VOD, DLC, as well as PVR functionality coming to Europe. I think Sony are going to produce a top end bundle for the PS3 with 120 or 160Gb HDD, rumble, and then continue selling the 40Gb at the low end.

I think that we'll also see a slim in time for Christmas. In which case, the existing 40Gb will get culled and they'll put the slim in its place. I don't think Sony is going to announce a slim before its about to appear for fear of invoking the Osborne Effect on itself.

well id expect some news about the discontinued 80gb and what its being replaced by. also i think the DS3 will be announced this week for a us release next month.

They HAVE to! I get as many calls for the 80gb/a new model PS3 as I do for the Wii! I need an answer!

I totally agree. We don't need a larger hard drive, we need a newer model. The 60 isn't even around any more.

there's always something different other than hard drive space between the ps3's. so a bigger drive i'm sure isn't the only change from the 40/80. hopefully they'll go back and put more of the 60 in.

but if you guys are running out of room, stick a bigger drive in there!

Big announcements are rarely made at GDC. Mostly it is a conference for DEVELOPERS to tell other DEVELOPERS what type of technique they used to succeed/fail and to translate that into raw numbers/sales data. It's not for us, it's for them. There are a few announcements, like the supposed GOWIII, but don't hold your breath on big announcements.

yeah i suppose i should have mentioned this, because i actually did know lol. but there were rumors sony would release the 120/160 gb ps3 at gdc, with the 80gb gone and all, it'd be the perfect time/place

I would like to find out when Home will becoming out, as well as DualShock, a bigger hard drive, and when the in game XMB will be relesed.
