Hi folks- i'm about to buy my sister and brother in-law a new 40gb ps3. they have the same HTIB as I do in the Onkyo that doesn't have HDMI. Will it be possible to run an HDMI cable to their TV which DOES accect 1080P and therefore has HDMI, and then run an optical cable to their reciever for DD5.1 and DTS? Thanks...

important to know u need to plug in the hdmi BEFORE you turn it on for the first time, this will save some headaches

and you have to manually change the sound output to optical

Yep. That's how I have mine hooked up (for now until I get my 705 reciever).
