Default Onkyo receiver 605 or 705

I dunno if I pick the Onkyo TX-SR605 or Onkyo TX-SR705?

What about the lyp synchronizing issue that a lot of ppl talk about?

If your choices are only between those two, then I would choose the 705. It has pre-outs, so in the event that you maybe decide to add an external amp in the future, you will be able to. The 605 does not.

No other way around it!

605 and 705 are largely very similar. If you jump to the 805, you get a fair amount more power, another HDMI connection, and Burr-Brown DAC's (very good!)

I prefer Onkyo's recievers and not Yamaha. The 805 will suit you better, most likely.

I don't know much about Yamaha, but I got my 805 about a week ago, and I love it . You won't be disappointed.

Been doing a little research on the 805, anyone have any concerns about the heat the 805 puts out?

The 805 is designed to run like that. There's nothing wrong with it. I had a 605 before I got my 805 and it ran just as hot as the 805. It's not blazing hot like some would have you believe, but it is warm to the touch.

Not hot, just runs like any other electronic device these days. The PS3 gets hotter.

I only wanted was LPCM, DTHD, and dts HD/MA. 90 watts per is fine for me. All those other things like THX I don't need. So the 605 was perfect.

I have the 705 and love it, the only real difference I noticed was the 805 has more watts per channel and I've found the 705 has more than enough to drive my Def Techs.

If you're going to spend the money to get the Onkyo 805 you would be better off purchasing the Denon 2808ci.
The Denon has better sound, especially when the volume is at a low to medium setting. Also, there are no lip-synching or analog video down-converting issues with the Denon brand.
