Default I need help finding a TV..

Hey guys, this is my first post. I'm usually a big part of car forums. I recently got into the whole movie and TV scene.. I was wondering if you guys could recommend me a TV for my gf's dad. He is looking for a good 50"+ LCD 1080p tv for his rec room. I was looking into the new Samsung LN52A650 for him. What do you think of that one? Or maybe a Sony Bravia KDL-52XBR4. Any help or suggestions from you guys would be great. Thanks.

They've got some pretty nice Samsung TV's too. You might want to look at them. They're at a very reasonable price and the same quality as Sony. If you can get a great price on the Sony, go for it.

Thanks for the fast responses guys. Is there anything I should really stay away from as certain TV's? I'm also trying to talk him into getting a Blu Ray also, if that matters any..

i've owned 5 hdtv's, and i'd have to say Sony is my personal fav now. 2nd would be samsung....( as most reviews will show)...if your looking for 120hz, samsung is more bang for your buck...i'd recommend checking amazon.com...can't beat their prices...heck, if amazon beats the price you paid at amazon ( within 30 days) they will credit back the diff.

STAY AWAY from KOREAN LCDs, in general. Samsung is not bad, but Samsung is not exactly cheap for 50"+ as well. For the money, you may as well add 3-500 for a Sony XBR4/XBR5.

I just got my 52XBR4 last month and it is just simply amazing!
