Hey everyone. I am really sorry to even start this thread, because I know I have read another one with all the information I need, but I just cannot seem to find it to save my life, so here goes:
My brother (not tech savvy in the least) is looking for an HDTV display. He says he can spend about $600, which rendered me speechless for several minutes. My problem is that I cannot honestly recommend to him a display for that price that would meet my personal criteria for an HDTV. I really want him to get 1080p, but at that price, the TV he gets will be no bigger than 30", so what's the point? That being said, I'm left with either a 1080i RP CRT tube (YIKES!) or a 720p/768p LCD monitor. What I want to know is, which models actually properly implement and execute 3:2 pulldown and/or deinterlacing of 1080i content? I remember somebody linking to a list of many models, only a few of which did this properly. Also, some general tips on picking out monitors in this price range would be great, seeing as I will clearly have to make sacrifices to meet this price range. |

I dont think for $600 you can be too picky when it comes to hdtv's...just try to find them when they are on sale.
Element 32" LCD HDTV ($500) this is the one I have (got it on sale for $450) and I am impressed with it: 32" Dynex LCD ($599) both of these have built in HD tuners, so you can connect an anntenna and get free over-the-air HD broadcasts. |
