If she doesn't mind getting a refurbished TV, that might be the way to go. Sony's website has an outlet where you can buy certified refurbs. If I were buying a new TV now on a budget, that is what I would do. http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/...Price+Ss+%3E+0

cnet.com will help you narrow down models and retailers.

She might consider this refurbished model:

I've heard it's the best 720p LCD on the market (at least of last year).

Any reason for Sony specifically? If looking for the best deal, she might be able to do better with a different brand.

If your friend doesn't mind waiting until the end of this month or the beginning of next, the new Sony KDL-40S4100 is supposed to retail for $1199 (or somewhere in the at area). 40" 1080p24 LCD. If I weren't hell bent on getting myself the Panasonic TH-42PZ85 (getting it Monday... Yay!) Plasma, I would seriously be considering that TV.

Yes!!!! My coworker was quoted by our coorporate CDW rep a KDL-46V4100 for $1325. That is a couple hundred less than I paid fo my 40 inch (40V2500) that is less than a year old!!! The new models do 24 fps as well!!!

Tell her to check out crutchfield.com too. They have a big variety, and decent prices.
