Default The Matrix = Unoriginal?

Found this video on youtube.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HBbSx72FFyY

Incredibly true. I personally liked The Matrix more then i liked Blade - but both were incredibly good movies.

I diddn't realise that Blade came out before The Matrix. I always thought that Blade just took The Matrix's ideas and ripped them off into one big gore-fest with swords and guns. Apparently not.

I know both of these movies arent even on blu-ray ... I just thought some people might be interested in seeing that.

Some major douchebaggery in that video. Someone with way too much time on his/her hands. The Wachowski brothers were working on the script and developing their "bullet time" filming techniques loooooong before Blade even went into production. They were still trying to sell their script and idea in Hollywood way before Balde even got the green light.

i actually like to tell people that I came up with the basic premise of the Matrix movies when I was 10 years old just minus the computers....I thought and told the sisters that "wouldnt it be weird that what if life as we know it is a dream, that we are actually asleep right now, and that one day we'll wake up and start our lives for real?".....damn, I should have written it down then......that was 14 years ago....(true story)

I thought Dark City was the stimulus for the Matrix Premise more than any other movie.

I thought everyone knew the Wachowski's (sp?) had stolen the idea. They did loose a big lawsuit about this a few years back

Link

Edit - okay - maybe they didn't lose afterall. I keep finding very conflicting information on the subject

Can't prove it - but some of the rooftop sets were used in both. The opening Trinity shots and the John Murdock rooftop shots are the same set (from IMDB trivia section for the Matrix)

Thats interesting. Now that you mention it, I can see that. So it was the rooftops that were the Matrix predisessor.

Wow... that guy must do "research yoga." He is very obviously skilled in stretching the facts!

However, I did find it interesting when he brought up the way all other races bowed to a caucasian messiah figure... an interesting representation of the current Christian religions around the world? Maybe.

What about him? I'm not sure what your intention was in that reply. It actually seems rather disconnected from what I said.

It is pretty similar to the ancient Plato's "Allegory of the Cave". We studied the similarities in an English class when I was still in college. Pretty interesting.

Neo, the white messiah figure. It was beyond obvious and rather interesting.
