If your looking for a plasma dont get a samsung, youd be better of with a panasonic. For an LCD samsung would be a proper fit. What size are you looking for? LCDS generally are better for gaming as well, or so people say, i dont really see a big difference gaming wise. Samsung does make 120hz LCDs, but you need to decide on size

we have the 52" 650 and we love it. a friend brought over his xbox 360 and played guitar hero and it looked amazing. i got mine thru amazon, $2300, took a week to get here but it was worth the wait saving the money from buying it in a store.

My good friend bought the plazma version first and had burn in that would not go away even after running a bright screen saver over night. So he took it back because the sales people keep saying 0 burn in in today Plazma NOT TRUE, so he got it replaced with the LCD and it's awesome!!

I have a samsung plasma. I love it for my movies, looks awesome. But for games i notice it gets image retention really easy. Mine is the 550 series. I only play COD4 with no HUD on. I did play MGS4 for a while on it but the OLD SNAKE stayed in the top left corner for a while. Just left the scrolling on one night and looks as good as new. I don't think that bright screen thing actually works. I know this ins't that guys story but he migth have been confused by IR thinking it was Burn in.

I don't want to stir sh*t but a friend of mine who owns a Panasonic plasma TH42PZ80U had image retention after playing warhawk for 2 hours. He also has phospher lag which is realy noticeable during Call of duty 4. I like plasma's for movies but despite all the praise i hear from alot of people i still think LCD is the way to go if you game. Just my opinion.

It's an ongoing debate and really goes into your personal taste. I personally think that LCD's greater than 37inch don't have the image quality that a plasma does. They are getting there but aren't there yet.
I have a Panasonic Plasma 75u series (the 2007 line) and play enough hours of gaming on it to confirm there is 0 burn-in. Image retention yes, that will fade away 30 seconds later after putting something like Discovery HD on the screen. I truly believe that if one gets image burn on a panasonic these days its for 3 reasons only. 1. You got a defective panel (hey it happens...) 2. You are playing and viewing things on "torch mode" vivid 3. To complement #2, you actually played more than 3-4 hours with a game with a static UI (more like 10 hours). Put it this way: If a plasma would suffer burn in after 3-4 hours of still image, you could kiss viewing films such as Troy, Kingdom of Heaven, LOTR: Extended Ed. goodbye as they are 2.35:1. ![]() Last edited by kuliddar; 07-28-2008 at 02:10 AM. Yup, these horror stories about burn-in on plasma are either from viral marketers, people who have no idea how to use a TV or from people who are so concerned with their LCD purchase that they need to make stuff up.
If you get image retention and phosphor lag on a new Panasonic plasma, either something's wrong with the panel or you took it out of the box and left a menu screen on it for several hours of the plasma's initial life. |

I got the 46in 650 about a couple of months ago. I've been drooling over it ever since I saw it at BB. The other choice was of course the Sony Bravia but this one looked better and was cheaper.
I was afraid that it would look different at my house. No such thing. It looks unbelievable. I have the PS3 connected to it and everyone, I mean everyone, that sees it is stunned by the contrast, saturation and sharpness of the image. Then after a while of watching it they notice the softness of the movements. That's when I explain 120Hz to them. My advice: go buy it right now. I did exhaustive research and found no one saying anything short of unbelievable. |
