What is the difference between.
Ultimate collectors edition. And. Complete collectors edition. ? Also. What are your thoughts on this movie. I have not seen it yet. And have heard things both ways on it. Amazing. Over rated. Probably the reason I am willing to buy it having not seen it. Is cause it is by Philip K. Dick. And I really like his other films. A Scanner Darkly. Fear and Loathing Los Vegas. Anyways. Had it in my hand today at Borders and decided I would wait on that (though I did get Dog Day Afternoon, and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang[, and a book but who on here cares bout books?]) So anyways. To cut to the chase. Whats the difference in editions. And what are you thoughts on this film. |

Fear and Loathing is by Hunter S. Thompson, not PKD.
However some popular movies that ARE based on PKD works are total recall, minority report, next, screamers, impostor, and paycheck Last edited by doctorsteve; 08-15-2008 at 12:29 AM. |

2. Ultimate Collector's Edition -- This edition has everything that the Complete Collector's Edition has, plus a few more goodies all housed inside a very unique Deckard briefcase packaging, which has a handle on the briefcase to complete the tech-noir look. The extra goodies inside said briefcase (along with the 5 Blu-ray discs) include: 8 still reproductions on an oversized card stock, several limited lenticular images from the film, miniature replicas of the "spinner" that Deckard (Harrison Ford) pilots in the movie and Gaff's (Edward James Olmos) origami of a unicorn, and a signed letter by director Ridley Scott complete with a small conceptual art he made during production. As far as my thoughts of the film goes, Blade Runner was - and still is - science fiction at its finest! Next to Star Wars and Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Blade Runner is a classic in its own right! And as far as the different versions of the film goes, my favorite version of Blade Runner is the 1982 Theatrical Cut of the film, because that particular version is the one that I'm used to seeing the most. However, I finished watching the Final Cut version a few days ago, and I liked it even more than the Director's Cut! So there you have it, psychofire. My two favorite versions of the film are the 1982 Theatrical Cut and the Final Cut. And when it comes to choosing one of these two collector's editions of Blade Runner, not only is it a no-brainer, but it's also a win-win situation when adding this classic to your Blu-ray collection! Good luck, man! ![]() Last edited by wnicholas76; 08-15-2008 at 02:12 AM. |

Aaaand to the other guy. Oh skizz. You are correct. I had pulled up a bit about him earlier but I was in a bit of a rush and skimmed over his film section on wikipedia and misread it. : ] My bads. Well still like some of his other works but A Scanner Darkly in particular. Fear and Loathing Las Vegas was more entertaining and seemed a out of place. Which is why I was surprised when I saw that. None the less thank you for correcting my error. |

I ordered the Ultimate Collector's Edition from Amazon.ca couple of days ago and it arrived today, and its looks SWEET! very cool looking.
only downside was that couple of the discs inside the case were loose and came off the hub, it wasn't really moving around and was careful opening the case. No scratches though, but i hate when i get floaters in the DVD and Blu-ray cases. Last edited by sg2386; 08-15-2008 at 03:14 AM. |

Yeah whenever I pick up a case in a store and i can hear the disk loose I grab another. IIIII am a sucker and hate waiting so I generally buy my blu in store rather then on the nets where the prices are better. |

Blade Runner's one of my favourite films. Takes a few watches just to understand a fraction of what's going on. Sure, there's a basic plot there, but after a few more viewings you only begin to grasp what the film's really about. Plus the visuals are beautiful and IMO a title that every Blu-ray collection MUST have. Now, the main difference for Blu-ray is simply the packaging: The Complete Collector's Edition is in a regular, although quite thicker, blu-ray case. The Ultimate Collector's Edition uses this case also, but is encased in a briefcase that comes with various extras. But the content on the discs are the EXACT SAME.

You'd never guess from my avatar that i think Bladerunner is the greatest movie of all time...
If you've never seen it, then it will be hard for you to understand just what all the fuss is about on a first viewing However... there is the most awesome documentary on one of the bonus discs that is about 3 hours long... and that statement in itself should say just how brilliant this movie is... try and think how many other film there are in existence that could have a 3 hour documentary made about them... and once you've watched that, then you should be a whole lot more enlightened But.. above all.. you have to watch this film and keep reminding yourself... that it really is 25 years old... yet it address such modern themes as artificial intelligence, genetic engineering, multi-culture-ism, the environment, over crowding, poverty divisions, etc, etc, but most of all.. just what is being human... And that's without mentioning just how influential this film has been over the years, and how at the time there had never been anything seen like it before - it was very much ahead of it's time There's a good reason it bombed at the box office, yet found a huge cult following on home video and tv re-runs... and that is simple that there is too much in this film (on many levels) to absorb in one viewing Last edited by Firstborn; 08-15-2008 at 04:27 AM. |
