Default A Few Questions About "Blade Runner"

First off, I would like to say that I'm very new to Blu-Ray. I finally got an HDTV 2 weeks ago, and just got a blu ray player last week, along with Pirates Of The Carribean, Ratatouille & Apocalypto.

Having seen those films and how amazing Blu-Ray movies look, im really interested in filling out a nice collection.

One movie that has always eluded me is Blade Runner. I have never seen this film, but I hear its amazing, and all this talk of cult classic. I love movies that are of a dystopian future such as Children Of Men, and I like science fiction movies as well.

My first question is, based on what i just said would Blade Runner be something i might like? I have nothing else to go on except Harrison Ford is one of my favorite actors, and ive always like most of Ridley Scott's stuff (except that last movie body of lies)

second, at the movie store i was at, they had 2 copies for purchase. They both looked exactly the same, i compared the back of the case and they were identical. One however was twice as thick, and the outer art was almost like a hologram look, shiny and distorted depending on viewing angle... the other was the normal thickness and a regular sleeve

any differences between those two? any reason to get one over the other?

Thanks!
