Default Dish Network 1080p Vs Blu-ray

Has anyone seen anything on Dish Network 1080p? Just wondering how it compares to Blu-ray. I think Dish had The Dark Knight PPV on 1080p...

I'm sure blu ray would be superior due to the amount of data that would have to be compressed when sending the signal to your dish. You are bound to lose some quality.. I'm sure someone here will give a better, more technical, explanation!

Plus, Dish Network 1080p broadcasts lose out on the audio side of things. They're only capable of 5.1 Dolby Digital, and cannot replicate the lossless audio tracks found on Blu-ray.

I have Dish HD, and I have no desire to use their 1080p on-demand service.

No comparison there at all.
Blu-ray is far superior in bandwidth, efficiency of codecs and audio codecs.

do a search..i posted a review of it back when it released. while its no blu-ray, its still pretty good and the reviewers had a hard time distinguishing between the 2.

but obviously blu-ray is going to be the winner

here ya go..

Obviously, DISH's 1080p isn't the same quality 1080p as what you'll find on a BD-50, but the results were pretty astounding, regardless. In fact, critics had a tough time deciphering between the two from a normal viewing distance, and while they were fully expecting to be underwhelmed by DISH Network's 1080p material, they were actually stunned by just how impressive it looked.

I never had thier 1080p service but their regular HD Channels with regular HD receiver is QUITE underwhelming... it just plain sucks.. so much that I canceled my hd subscription completely, was not worth the extra money at all. But like I said, I never had the 1080p so no idea there.
