Default Pioneer Elite SC- 05 blew up today!

It was 8 days old and the processor and amps blew. Back to best buy i went and have a brand new one all hooked up. It gave me a reason to do some serious wire management and cleaning. But i was really shocked this happened. A pioneer tech called it a "bad apple". Interesting . . . I have also decided to pull the trigger on a Pioneer Kuro Elite 60. I need to take pictures and share my modest home theatre.

Interesting...It goes to show you that the warranty is a huge part of buying electrinoics. From the short time I've been on this forum I've heard issues with just about every brand of product.
That's one advantage of buying local vs the internet. You don't have much down time as far as shipping back and forth goes (unless of course its out of stock). I'm glad to hear you are back up and running, keep us posted on how this one is performing.

What a 60" KURO? Man sucks to be you... I'm jealous . Out of curiousity, it looks like you have a solid TV, every consider getting a seperate amp and upgrading your speakers? You could do alot with 5-6 g's.

Gee, sorry to hear of the failure of the 8 day old unit. Hope the replacement gives many years of faithful service. By the way, I love my Pioneer Elite Kuro 111-FD. I am sure that you love your 60" Elite Kuro.

no way defiently get the 60 inch kuro, ill be doing the same. They wont be around for long. My parent have the exact same sony tv and i have the 40 inch version, the kuro would be a huge improvment. Seperate amps and speakers will be there forever, kuros will not

Sorry on amp, great to buy a Pioneer Kuro, I was at Best Buy .com just a second ago , PRICES on them went through the roof.. Now they are $7,000.00 --$6,500.00 & $5,500.00 this is really what they call price gouging, the buyer, I was at Best Buy today down in Muncy PA, and they had two Pioneer Kuro 5020 on display , open box item for $1,799.00 EA. I asked him to see if they had a new one oin the box he checked and said no , then I ask if they would knock off any more money , nope, o'well , I love my Panasonic G10 anyways , but the wife said if they would of had a new one I could of exchanged it ,,LOL,,,

Gentlemen, I understand the KURO's are the "end all be all for now" but with the advent of 1440p coming to the market. These TV's will be had for the cheap. Noway I'm paying that kind of money for something that will be much cheaper in the near future.

Amps and speakers last forever, technology proof. JMO

Even if 1440P TVs come to the market, I would not anticipate any broadcasts or equipment or even Blu-ray discs to support that resolution any time soon. It is going to be quite expensive to retool and make and support that resolution. Look how long it has taken to go from 480i to 1080i to 720P and now to 1080P. Additionally, even if the TVs become available, resolution is only 1 portion of the performance of a TV.

I really think the trick will be jumping on one when they do hit rock bottom, which might be hard to do,unless you know somebody at the store selling them.Sorry to continue the OT discussion.

Rich,
Your point is well taken. You and most of the members on this board understand that it is the medium in which the signal is broadcasted/played that determines the quality of the picture, but the masses do not. These manufacturers are pro's at marketing the newest technology and this in return will have a negative impact on the 1080p market. Just as 1080p had on 720p and 2160p will have on 1440p, it's the natur of the beast. The technology that is on the market is far behind what is actually being done in the R&D dept's of the electronics companies. Its just a matter of time before one becomes obsolete vs. another.JMO.
Regards,
Got rice

Never heard of 1440p. Anyway, without source material, what's the point?

Its probably a good idea to read the thread before you make comments. Nobody's buying a 1440p TV.

Just making a suggestion to buy other components to the OP setup instead of another TV. He already has one that is a solid performer. Why have 2 tv's that are in the ball park of $9000.00 total and have a set of speakers in the $900.00 range. Its some what unbalanced.

Here are two scenarios

1. Sony Bravia 52" 1080p
Pioneer Elite SC-07
Sunfire TGA7 200wx7 amp
B&W 683 5.0 system
SVS sub

2. Pioneer KURO 60"
Sony Bravia 52" 1080p
Pioneer Elite SC-07
Polk Audio TSI 400 towers
Polk audio cs 10 center
Klipsch SUB 10

Now which would you pick?
