Ah cool thanks - but for this sorta stuff, you need to get the real old stuff Just adds to it, it has more personality an history, as opposed to IKEA :P (I love IKEA don't get me wrong!)

I've just taken a couple of photos of my collection.

My Criterion Blu-ray is only modest. I only went multi-region for Blu-ray this year, so only have 55 Criterion Blu's. I order by spine, but separate digipaks and plastic cases. Box-sets are on a separate shelf. The films to the right of the main shelf are ones I haven't watched yet. Some (La dolce vita and It Happened One Night) only arrived recently, while others (Vivre sa vie, Vigo) are favourites that I upgraded from the Criterion DVD when I went multi-region.

Here's my Criterion DVD collection, which runs to around 150 titles.
[Show spoiler]

I also have a complete Masters of Cinema Blu-ray collection (and a row of their DVDs).

[Show spoiler]

This is probably my favourite non-Criterion shelf; my Lego art-deco cinema and French complete Eric Rohmer Box-set (as well as the German OUT 1 box-set and French Godard Politiques set).

Oh, I forgot to mention if you look at the bottom closely you'll see my ancient oil painting I painted when I was 9 years old and totally inspired by Bob Ross and his "happy little trees". The snow on the mountains came out blue though which I wasn't exactly planning on.
Everything with Bob Ross was "happy."-mountains, trees, clouds. You name it?/It was happy! Interesting and talented guy who sadly died pretty young.

Anyway, back to Criterion, these are my planned purchases during the sale:

The Innocents
Macbeth
My Darling Clementine
La Dolce Vita
The Vanishing
Y Tu Mama Tambien
The Shooting/Ride the Whirlwind
The Complete Jacques Tati
L'Avventura
It Happened One Night
Medium Cool

Nice! Love who tidy it is - Any reason you haven't opened Tati set?

Your blu's though, i'd fill that gap by putting one of the films artwork facing out, if that makes sense:

||||[]|||| like that haha :P

MoC shelf looks nice, how much is that roughly? (the collection not the shelves lol)!

Seeing all your Criterion DVD's, make me wish Criterion did Dual format ages ago and stuck to it haha, luckily I only have about 30-40 that need upgrading (some don't ave blurays yet though).

I noticed your Metropolis MoC Has so sleeve, did you remove this? and do you do for all releases? What do you do with them?

They bug me on standard Blurays so I put aside for storage, but the Metropolis sleeve is pretty nice! The metropolis spin bugs me that it's not the same as other spines (the logo at top).

Also Simon Killer? Is it me or does that film really stand out in the MoC collection?

Alright, alright, alright. My pick ups include:

Purple Noon
The Vanishing
My Darling Clementine
Being John Malkovich
Throne of Blood
Diabolique
For All Mankind
Solaris

That will for most tense and purposes be it, however, I may pick up Dazed and Confused before Dec. 1. I've seen it about a dozen times on TV, so I know I'll probably rewatch it a few times again.

I'm planning on picking up several things during the sale but F for Fake is the only one worth talking about because the supplement package is the main selling point and that's pretty unusual.

Don't get me wrong, I love Criterion's supplements. They're a big selling point. But they don't often trump the film. I had caught about half of this on TCM and was mildly to solidly interested in picking it up but the supplements totally bumped this up and the Tom Snyder interview of all things was what most caught my eye.

I *love* stuff like that. One of my favorite parts of the Anatomy of a Murder release is the clips of Otto Preminger on Firing Line. I wish they had been able to include the entire episode.

I'm working on a couple of big deadlines at the moment so am staving off distraction! Will hopefully get to it at the weekend.

I've only just moved Demy up to the top shelf, hence the space. I've got a couple of Criterions en-route (The Hellman Westerns and L'Avventura) so I suspect the gap will be filled soon enough!

There are 95 of them (although their latest 3 releases shipped this morning). Intolerance and Raymond Bernard’s version of Les Misérables are coming in December, which will take the collection to 100 spines by the end of 2014.

It was actually them going Dual-format that pushed me in to getting a region free Blu-ray player.

I took it off so it would fit in better with the other MoC Blu-rays. I don't generally take them off, but like the uniformity of MoC spines.

Yep, that's a commonly held opinion. That and Computer Chess seem to be controversial entries. Simon Killer is great tho, and gets bonus points for an amazing soundtrack and Mati Diop (of 35 Shots Of Rum fame).

Haha sorry didn't realised I asked so much! Lol

I was on edge when I made first purchase, get dvd or bluray, I had dvd player so figured I'll buy dvd format and enjoy it rather then get Bluray and have it collect dust... I wish I had gone with blu tbh lol

I've seen trailers to SK and it looks interesting, just reallllly sticks outm I mean it's nice they are including newer films, like Criterion but they don't do much it seems lol

I think when I get some money I'm gonna get the MoC releases ive always wanted, I just dunno whether to be uniform like yours or get the steelbooks or both haha.

Also didn't realise there was so little MoC, I know they didn't have as much as C but 100 isn't much really, guess it's nice and more personal, and probably why they have low selling cost (which I'll always question lol).

They're a much smaller business that Criterion, with as few as 5 members of staff on their books. Like you say, they're a bit more personal than Criterion, with each title selected by the Masters Of Cinema collective. I wouldn't let the low price put you off, there's a real air of quality around the collection (I'm still amazed you haven't picked up their Passion Of Joan Of Arc, which is as lavish as these things come).

No, that scene your thinking about is from Bart On The Road from Season 7 when they're on Spring Break with a fake ID

I agree!!
That seems ugly and cheap.
Is it in ALL releases?
And from what month and on did it start?

The one for La Dolce Vita looks like a nightmare to try and read.

I have to admit, I've rarely read the booklets, (I tell myself once I've seen the movies a couple of times...) but I can't even imagine trying to read one of those.

Really like the pics of people's collections. Better never show mine.....it looks like a disorganized mess though I can find about anything there with very little effort. Gotta say, I like those string shelves.

Started the sale yesterday with the Tati set and F for Fake. Tati set is "f" for fabulous. I hadn't expected so many and such excellent extras. And then there's the disc of his shorts, none of which I've seen. And notes for each feature. And a wonderful design. I think Christmas break is gonna be me and Jacques.

F for Fake has great supplements, too. As does Tess (which I already had). Both of these discs are almost a mini-film festival in their own right.

Same here. I occasionally thumb through them but far more often than not I forget they're even there when I have the case in my hands. It's only when I'm reading about one here that I think 'oh yeah, I should check that out'.
