I'm actually a student but I'm doing some website projects on the side that should bring in some money. I hope.

I meant "only" in reference to the Denon's $2000 tag of course. If I could afford it I would get the Denon; I've seen their DVD players (my dad has one) and they're amazing. And $800 is also cheaper than the cost to buy an equivalent sounding receiver with HDMI audio ($1050).

The Denon DVD-3800BDCI is overrated. I did a side-by-side comparison between the Denon and my Sony BDP-S1, and the Sony was clearly superior. The Denon suffered from moire and jaggies on video-based material. Too bad the BDP-S1 has been discontinued...heck of a player. I would look into the new Sony players due out soon.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, I completely disagree with yours.

What about if you want DTS HDMA bitstreaming, DTSMA internal decoding, DTSMA 7.1 analog out, Dolby THD bitstreaming, Dolby THD 7.1 analog out, 1.1 features, ALOT faster loading times, or the BEST SD DVD video upconversion available in any available player or AVR?

How does the BDPS1 stack up against the 3800 then?

While I agree that the Denon has more features, the BD performance of the two was very similar, and I prefer the BDP-S1's upscaling ability as compared to that of the Denon (even though the Denon supposedly has the "best" SD DVD upconversion). IMO, the Denon's not even close to the Sony in terms of SD DVD picture quality, and the Sony cost less than half the price. Again, just an opinion.
