Wouldn't bother me, I already know how it's going to end. Going to try to read it again on Wednesday before I see it on Thursday.

The book is split into 3 parts
[Show spoiler](The Ashes, The Assault, The Assassin)
, but the literal halfway point is after
[Show spoiler]Peeta tries to kill Katniss and she realises that she can't live alongside him in 13, so she asks to be taken to the front line of the fighting in 2.

I don't know if the movie will simply end on the attempted assassination of Katniss but it seems likely. In other words, we're not even getting as far as half of the book with Mockingjay Part 1.

The reviews have painted it as more of a psychological thriller with clear overtones of how propaganda is used on all sides to drive the war machine forward. That's what I keep saying about this movie not making as much money as the rest, not just from 'Part 1' syndrome but because it really is very different from the other two and indeed the movie that will follow it, which will be a lot more action-packed with the assault on the Nut and then the final battles in the streets and sewers of the Capitol.

That sounds like overloading the back half as there's so much story
[Show spoiler]even after the rebels defeat the Capitol
.

[Show spoiler]Will we meet Katniss' children in movie 2
? I can't believe this series is already ending, seems like it started just yesterday.

The review from The Telegraph says:
[Show spoiler]"Suzanne Collins’s original Mockingjay novel, the final instalment in her bestselling young-adult trilogy, runs to 27 chapters plus epilogue. Francis Lawrence’s film takes us a page or so into chapter 13, which is just around the point that the subterranean scheming eases off and things actually start to happen."

So I think that means it'll end shortly after the strangling. But I'm not sure about the rescue in the second half. I haven't the book in years so I don't remember specific happenings.

Absolutely, but the soundtrack listing kinda makes it obvious that the
[Show spoiler]strangulation
will be the point of the split. I can see it working though: start Part II with a bang as Katniss
[Show spoiler]immediately realises that she can't stay in 13 so she goes to fight. In the book it takes her another chapter to realise that she can't stay but nothing says "I hate you" quite like trying to choke the life from someone, so they can go straight to Katniss wanting to leave 13.

Heck, I'd start the second movie with her already onsite in 2 and be done with it. That way they can get cracking with the Nut (sorry), then move on to Katniss' and Johanna's soldier training, then have the big assault on the Capitol culminating with Coin's horrible plan for another final Hunger Games and Katniss killing her. The epilogue can then simply be Katniss, Peeta and the kids years later. I think that could all fit into two and a half hours.

Yes, apparently they're gonna draft in some of
[Show spoiler]Jennifer Lawrence's relations to play her kids. And I know what you mean about it ending, it's gonna be so bittersweet but I'll be so pleased that Katniss has finally found peace.

What rescue are we talking about?
[Show spoiler]If it's Peeta then it has to happen before the strangling, and like the book I don't think we're gonna see much of the rescue, if at all.

Oh right, I wasn't sure if thats the rescue jscoggins was talking about. I got mixed up with the parts between the book and movie.
I'm positive they're going to include
[Show spoiler]Peeta's rescue. They've shown short clips of the rescue team going down the Tribute Center

Man, I'd love his job. Really, you don't even need to see the movie.

I know this will be good but Rolling Stones quotes are always 95% positive lol. Specially from Peter Travers. He always always hails big blockbuster movies.

My theatres are only selling Thursday night tickets right now. Friday afternoon/rest of the weekend tickets go on sale Friday at noon. I like that they're waiting till the day of to sell tickets tbh.

Since most theaters don't have assigned seating, and you can normally get tickets on the day of, at least here, it makes no difference to me.

So far all the negative reviews are saying splitting the book in two films hurt it
