Sure, but IMAX doesn't have the monopoly on the biggest screens, not in the Yoo-nited States anyways. Putting IMAX above the door (if it's not a true 15/70 show) doesn't make me enjoy a film any more than I would've done elsewhere. YMMV, natch.

I haven't seen any concrete proof that Interstellar will be the last of the 70mm mohicans. I read some scuttlebutt about it on some random site and it seems to have passed into fact. That said, if Star Wars (which is a year away) can't command a genuine 15/70 presentation then nothing will after that.

Well, IMAX screens inside museums still show documentaries in 15/70, but those venues hang on to the same film prints for years, even decades.

Also, IMAX does have the biggest screens. Those other places with "large screens" adapted Digital IMAX's approach, which is to move the screen closer to the seats and make it touch the floor and ceiling. They're nice (and I wish that all screens were built that way), but Giant IMAX is still...GIANT.

Yeah. Interstellar being last 15/70mm feature is just the general consensus given than nobody but Nolan seems to be able to muster up the pull to get those prints made, and made right. Star Trek Into Darkness had some prints floating around, but apparently they looked terrible. I don't believe the only feature to use IMAX cameras as aggressively as Nolan, Catching Fire, had any prints made.

Star Wars apparently only has one sequence shot in IMAX, which reduces the chances of actual prints being struck to almost none. Unless Nolan's able to push out another IMAX movie before all the giant screens move to 4K, which seems unlikely, Interstellar is the last mohican.

Not true. Several theaters had it, including the Bob Bullock in Austin, TX.

Ah, my mistake. Is there a list? I remember people complaining about several tentpole IMAX's showing it digitally.

Forum member antovolk (https://forum.blu-ray.com/member.php?u=232699) might have a list. Off the top of my head, the BFI in London, the Henry Ford in Dearborn, MI, and the Bob Bullock in Austin, TX had it in 15/70. But yes, it really was shown in 15/70.

And it was beautiful. Just have to point that out. If you live in Austin and the movie of your choice is showing at Bob Bullock, you go to Bob Bullock.

Score keeps dropping. Now at 80% from 86%.

Want for this movie to match the same score as Catching Fire but by the looks of it it will verge between a final 70%-75% score :/

The Henry Ford is where I saw Interstellar.

I like that name:

- "Where are you going?"
- "To The Henry Ford, see ya!"

Kind of wish the theaters in my state had cool people names.

As you might imagine, the auto industry is sort of a big thing in Michigan in general. And it was essentially Ford Motor Company that built Dearborn, MI. The Henry Ford Museum is a pretty cool place actually, apart from the theater. But these days, the theater is the only reason I go there.

Into Darkness looked fine to me, it was a glorious sight to see the Enterprise soar on 15/70 (YES jscoggins I KNOW IT WAS A DIGITAL SHOT, BUT STILL, 'TWAS AWESOME ).

And as was said, Catching Fire did indeed get proper 15/70 prints, I saw one myself and it looked superb. In fact the only 15/70 feature-length show I haven't seen in that format was The Dark Knight, as I've been fortunate enough to catch Transformers 2, Ghost Protocol, Dark Knight Rises, Catching Fire, Into Darkness 3D and now Interstellar at the BFI IMAX.

And there was, y'know, actual live action 15/70 goodness throughout Into Darkness which also looked rather spiffy.
