I know, I know... I had to choose very carefully from the several pics I took to stay as out of frame as possible...

It almost looks like art.

I'd blow that photograph up and put it in an art gallery.

It's very meta, though -- visual commentary on the sad state of affairs when we have to deal with disc rot.

All those... movies... will be lost in time... like... Criterion discs... in... rust...

Time... for a replacement or a refund.

If Blade Runner ever got a Criterion edition, I'd probably rust in peace.

if Criterion's THIEF ever gets affected by this rot, it will be interesting to see if it turns rusty brown... or moldy GREEN...

I just looked at the BD.com screenshots. Wow, is the movie supposed to look that way?

According to Michael Mann as of 2013-2014 he thinks so.

Exactly what I thought, very artistic photo - print and frame that. And send one to Criterion also.

Received both Walkabout and Paris, Texas today. Both were in sleeves and a cardboard mailer similar to that used by Paramount for the Season 1 Star Trek:TNG replacements. The packaging is good in my opinion. The Walkabout disk is printed with "second printing" while there is no printing mark on Paris, Texas.

Anybody with Kagemusha problems, may I ask if there is general time index where playback becomes problematic?

I did chapter skips, and my copy froze when it hit Chapter 13 (around 1:21:40).

Has anyone's copy of Last Year at Marienbad bronzed? Mine doesn't appear to be and it loads but I haven't watched the movie through. I'd like to send it in for a replacement just in case but since there's no visible signs of a problem I don't know if Criterion would replace it....

Sony messed up their new Fifth Element Steelbook for Best Buy:

I got my copy of in the mail today. It's a nice looking SteelBook, however the disc is the original version (not the remaster). It's a BD25 with MPEG-2 video and no Dolby True-HD track. You would think that maybe it's a mistake, however the disc art matches the SteelBook so it must be intentional.

It's kind of a sketchy thing for Sony to do. Are they trying to unload a bunch of old copies hoping nobody will notice?

Luckily I have the remastered Edition already. But if you don't it is not worth it. So please avoid.
