Will the price of the score go down eventually, or will I have to wait years?

Yes, that's me. She has me. We're spending Thanksgiving tomorrow in her new pad.

And speaking of Thanksgiving.
‘Hunger Games’ Dominating Early Thanksgiving Box Office
Quote:
Lionsgate’s “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 1″ flew to a powerful $14.5 million on Wednesday at the pre-Thanksgiving box office to lift its six-day domestic total to $158 million.

The Jennifer Lawrence franchise outdistanced a solid debut from Fox/DreamWorks’ “The Penguins of Madagascar,” which drew $7 million Wednesday — signaling a total in the $42 million to $44 million range for the five days through Sunday.

New Line’s launch of “Horrible Bosses 2″ also turned in a decent showing on Wednesday in the $5 million range, including $1 million in Tuesday night showings. The R-rated comedy sequel is projected to take in about $35 million for the Wednesday-Sunday Thanksgiving holiday period.

The original “Horrible Bosses” opened in July, 2011, with $28.3 million on its way to $117 million in the U.S. and $209.6 million worldwide.

The Wednesday before Thanksgiving has been a historically strong day for moviegoing with “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” taking in an impressive $20 million on the day last year. This year’s totals may have been held down due to freezing weather in the East.

Despite being down roughly 25% from “Catching Fire,” and $80 million holiday weekend domestic total for “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1″ — in line with forecasts — would leave the film at about $220 million in the U.S. for its first 10 days, or more than halfway to the $425 million final cume for “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.” At $220 million, it would be the seventh highest domestic grosser this year and be two-thirds of the way to topping Disney-Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” as the top U.S. performer at $331 million.

Overseas, “Mockingjay” is also turning in an impressive performance and should hit around $195 million internationally — topping the total of last year’s “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” at the same point. “Catching Fire” wound up with $440 million internationally.

Mockingjay would seem to be in good position to have solid holds for awhile, assuming the fact that it's a bridge movie doesn't dissuade people from seeing it.

It doesn't have much in it's way for competition. So it should do well enough.

I knew Mockingjay would have another strong weekend. It's Thanksgiving weekend, when people are off of school and work. And it follows one of the most successful sequels of all-time. It was inevitable.

Looks like Big Hero 6 has a chance of taking the #3 spot over Horrible Bosses. I'm surprised it's not going to surpass Penguins, but I guess most parents already brought their kids for BH6, and kids want a new animated film since this year has been kinda dry in the animation genre.

In a strange way, no. I don't mean that I don't want to see Part 2 next year, I mean that the movie was satisfying enough in narrative terms that I'm not jonesing for another instalment right this second. (Having read the book for the umpteenth time also helps.)

So much of the complaining I've heard about this movie is that it's only the first part, nothing interesting happens, all Lawrence does is cry, it's really dull visually blah blah ****ing blah. But the movie's narrative is plenty satisfying in and of itself, there's some well-executed (pun not intended) action, Lawrence is superb as usual and Francis Lawrence's direction is very good indeed. (I know, right?)

I got chills when Katniss surveys the hospital building and all the people do the three-fingered salute, the "if we burn" propo also gave me the shivers and when SPOILERS FOR PART 2
[Show spoiler]Prim mentions she's in training to be a doctor I actually welled up with a few tears, knowing what's to come in Part 2. That movie's gonna be so ****ing heartbreaking.

It's as good a part 1 as I'd dared hope. It's not perfect as I missed a lot of the nuances from the book which were left out, and what was with the music? Half of it seemed like it'd been tracked in from Catching Fire. (Hanging Tree was awesome though, I can't stop humming that tune.) But overall it's a worthy 8/10.

Yeah I noticed that with the music. It's pretty much the same thing from the other two movies. I also noticed Catching Fire was extremely similar to Snow White and the Huntsman in the action driven parts. Newton Howard is a fine composer, but I wish he made something more distinctive.

What I liked about Harry Potter was that each film had its own theme (granted that there were different composers), but with Alexandre Desplat for Deathly Hallows, both parts had a different sound and feel.

To be fair to JNH I thought the scores for the first two movies were quite different from each other. But with Mockingjay it's not like he's reprising certain themes, it literally sounds like come of the key music from CF has been tracked in. Very odd.

Speaking of the music, I really miss the opening cue from the first movie and I'm keeping everything crossed that it gets reprised in the last movie.

But at least that theme is still referenced in Mockingjay, it's used as the theme tune for the Capitol TV bit.

I'd give anything to hear a few bars from this again:
