You can't really blame people for doing what TT promotes - rare collectables... |

And it's cool you got the German copy. You saved yourself half the money and I heard the video transfer's slightly better than the first TT release too. So it's more than a worthy alternative to this TT release. Plus this Fright Night Blu ray's made from a 4K transfer by Sony. Since Sony's one of the pioneers for 4K blu ray I'm pretty sure a new 4K release is in the pipelines so we can upgrade again then. lol.. And you didn't come off as complaining at all so no worries there. I'd be pretty choked if I missed out this time too. Plus, some of these comments from others have been pretty rude. Enjoy the German copy man. Fright Night in HD! |

My problem with scalpers?
They buy extras of something they don't need or may have no personal interest in, then re-sell it at an inflated price for personal monetary gain, at the expense of someone else purchasing the product at it's original price. And that someone most always has a more genuine and honest interest in the product rather than using it as a means to make a monetary gain. This is done at the expense of others. It's taking advantage of a situation in the interest of personal profit. And that's something I do not respect. Yes, in order to be successful as a scalper, one often has to be well informed. They have to have done their homework. Thieves also have to be well informed. The preparation doesn't justify the act. The pisser with Twilight Time is now that they've sold out, that's it for the next three years. They've put out 8,000 copies in a span of just over three years. And there will be no more for the next three. I understand the fundamental problem people have with their business model. If you missed out, there's always the German version. It's less than half the price. Has a reportedly superior transfer. And has good cover art. Which is always a plus,) |

I've been helping people get a anime that is going in and out of stock. Sure I could have easily flipped it for a profit. But I would rather a fan of the show that missed out get the chance to get it before the resellers do. |

As far as the German version having superior transfer, I don't know where you guys get this from, but it is the EXACT same transfer as on the first Twilight (and I suspect will be on the new one). http://www.caps-a-holic.com/hd_vergl...on=1&lossless= The only difference is the Twilight has a lossless audio track whereas the German one has a lossy track (because it had to squeeze in more foreign audio tracks). Not a dealbreaker for me as I intend to pick up the German one anyway. Last edited by Bumblefeet; 01-02-2015 at 11:13 AM. |

Very sorry that there were people here who did not get one. I missed out on this the first time, but was able to get a copy of this one. With the limit of 3 from the get-go, I really thought this would stay in stock longer
Missed out on a couple of other TT's that sold out as well so I am hoping they will eventually be re-released. Last edited by Jaymole; 01-02-2015 at 11:35 AM. |

Exactly. I ordered my ONE copy as well. I'm purchasing for entertainment and nostalgia. Not to deny another customer's chances or rip someone off.

Twilight Time does not wholesale their releases. So if a legitimate business wants to stock their releases, they have to buy at 'retail'. That business has to then re-sell at a higher price. There is nothing illegal in this whole transaction, nor even morally wrong.
If you want to get mad, get mad at TT for allowing multiple copies to be purchased from the get-go. I feel a 1-disc limitation should be imposed up until the actual street date of the release...then open it up to speculators (a more appropriate term than scalpers since there's no guarantee they'll actually get a return worthy of their investment). And some blame should go to SAE for servers crashing. I'm still pissed I didn't get an autographed Journey to the Center of the Earth - it was in my cart, but the damn site wouldn't let me check out. There are much better ways of handling these type of sales...and for the amount SAE charges for shipping, they really should investigate IMPROVING the experience (I picked up a ton of clearance CD's in December, and my shipping was about $40...but the actual priority mail charge was just $15 - now THAT's scalping!*). Peter *Come to think of it - why aren't all these anti-scalping posters boycotting SAE? Have you ever checked their rare/out of print section? How could ANY of these posters support such a business by buying Twilight Time titles from them? Put your money where your mouth is and order from TCM next time (a company that doesn't scalp rare releases). |
