might be easiest to obtain just the slip covers of 2 & 3 and buy the box set as it goes on sale.

I thought that was really going to bother me too, and it was the first time I considered getting a sigil slip, but I stuck with it and IMO it actually looks really good next to the first 2.

If going from black to grey is going to bother you than the sigil slips are even worse offenders with all the different colors. If you're going for uniformity, then you're out of luck here.

I agree. I just purchase the regular old releases. I love the individual season posters. Ned on the Iron Throne, the hand clutching the crown, and the dragon's shadow, are all pretty attractive.

Looking forward to the crow shedding swords for season four.

You know, I'm not really that big on extra features so it doesn't bother me that much, but I'm surprised more people aren't getting upset about how studios are continuing to split their content across multiple store exclusives. I mean, you're literally getting less features for no good reason. I doubt that many people would go as far as to buy multiple copies just to have all the extra content.

I love extra features, if they're informative. I love deleted scenes. It's always surprising, how few extras, they seem to find for GOT. 2 deleted scenes??? A show of this scope, and the large cast, only 2 deleted scenes???

Also, not sure if anyone asked, why are they squeezing 4 episodes, on to 1 disc?

Ask and you shall receive...

I hate the splitting of the content, but what can I do about it? If it's voting with my wallet, then I haven't purchased any of the retailer exclusive content, just the BB sigil slips. Most egregious release in recent memory was Star Trek: Into Darkness...content was everywhere, everyone had an exclusive! Things like commentary tracks should not be exclusives, and I don't want digital exclusives that can be taken away when a studio feels like it. I want it on disc. *end rant*

You'd be surprised.

The only way that will stop is if people stop buying multiple exclusives and we all know that's not going to happen.

It is annoying, but there's not much we can do about it. The only thing that would really bug me is an exclusive commentary, which thankfully has only happened once that I know of (Star Trek Into Darkness) and was eventually remedied.

Any reviews of this yet?

Still trying to find out if HBO is going to be using the normal sturdy boxes versus the paper boxes they have been using for their more recent stuff like they did for Boardwalk Empire Season 4 and the Newsroom Season 2.

I really want the good stuff for Game of Thrones.

I really want the good stuff for Game of Thrones.
But the "good stuff" is the slimmer, recent packaging!

Seems like they aren't doing the whole bundle the extras thing.. back during S2 release I bought from them to get all the store exclusives bundled.

I noticed that Best Buy finally dropped the price on their exclusives to $39.99. I'm thinking of jumping in on a preorder now to make sure I reserve one...is this usually the price these sets have been on release day? I know BB is supposed to adjust in the case of a price drop but I prefer to initially order at lower price.

Also curious, would it be possible to update the OP with images of the BB exclusives? Or is there a separate thread dedicated to those (I searched the forums but only found group buys for the BB exclusives)?

You should be fine too if you wait until release week to pre-order. I've never had a problem with getting a copy in-store on release day so you should be fine with pre-ordering too.
