I've been trying to find the soundtrack here and I can't find it anywhere. Online is the last place I want to look. Guess I'll go to WM and KM tomorrow. Or FYE

Agreed. I really liked Iron man, but I LOVED TDK.

IMHO....

Ironman was a Superhero movie....
Dark Knight was a movie with Superheroes.

By that I mean... Batman wasn't even the key thing in TDK... There were such heavy and overriding themes of the thin line between good and evil, all it takes is one bad day. The themes were huge and real. It almost seemed like Gotham City itself was the main character of this movie. The plot and writing were so phenomenal, that it would have been a good movie without the comicbook background and capes. Such a good story. IMHO, the best and most 'possible' or real-world superhero movie to date.

Lets see. Begins took place in the slums of Gotham. Knight took us to the main city part of Gotham. Wonder where the 3rd will take us?

Very nicely put, iron man is for the super hero fan, Dark Knight can be watched by anyone not just fans of the series

I will disagree with any comparison to Iron Man on the grounds that you need to compare Iron Man to Batman Begins and wait for Iron Man 2 to compare to The Dark Knight.

The Dark Knight beats Iron Man but one is a sequel. We'll have to revisit this in 2010.

well just got back a bit ago and I LOVED IT!!!!

incredible story, acting and score to the movie. i noticed the music very much in this one and they did a great job on it with the tense scenes and with the psycho scenes

The story went along great and slowed down a bit when needed and then you get hit again with more great scenes. absolutely amazing!!

I also loved the scene where joker is hanging out the back of a police car freely( my avatar) this one reviewer sums it up perfectly
Quote:
One scene in particular illustrates that quality and it has nothing to do with wreaking havoc at a hospital or a police station or a packed ferry boat. It's a quiet moment between outrages, with the Joker leaning out of the window of a police car he's stolen, the wind blowing through his matted hair, his tongue licking his lips like a lizard and that jagged red smile on his cracked clown-white makeup looking like the real thing for once. It's a crazed image of out-of-control id, the total freedom that comes from living life with no restrictions -- and believing you're unstoppable.

The scene serves no purpose, strictly speaking, in terms of advancing the plot, but it argues well, along with many other little moments in "The Dark Knight," for an Oscar nomination for Ledger in the last performance he completed before dying far too soon.
that scene gave me chills.

Agreed. Nolan is just as important to this franchise as anyone. He deserves sooo much credit.

Can you imagine the pressure Nolan would be under to top this movie!? He has used the Joker and I think the joker has more popularity than the riddler or any of the other villians. Man I bet if he does come back it is going to be a long time before we get another.

Can you imagine a director trying to come in a follow up everything that Nolan has created?

Warner Brothers would be smart to not try with a different director atleast for awhile.

That ends that topic

[Show spoiler] The Scarcrow. I'm kind of glad he wasn't in it that long. Different guy, different voice. Don't know if I would have been able to handle it.

Above you said that you're glad that character was not in long. Different guy, different voice? It was the same actor in both BB and TDK.

thats true but its gonna be hard or nearly impossible to top dark knight, locically speaking, and even if it does indeed produce a better movie (unlikely) it wont get as much praise since the fan base is not nearly as large as batmans was.

You're probably right. But let's hope movies continue to get better and better to rival this one. That would be great!

One thing that The Dark Knight benefits from (that I hope other comic book movies learn from) is
[Show spoiler]not having an origin for the main villain. I've never felt it was necessary. Sure, they followed the creation of Two Face but it was within the context of the story and a result of the motivations of the main villain.

Just got back from a showing, and damn it, I missed the first 6 or so minutes (which was fine since I already saw it on the Batman Begins BD), but it certainly threw me into a loop because I thought I missed too much and didn't even know why Scarecrow was in it.

Anyway... where to start? The Dark Knight was effing fantastic. The story is so complex, filled with lots of twists and turns. Once your mind just finished processing an arc, something will get thrown at you unexpectedly. And wow, I know Heath Ledger has been getting a lot of praise, but he totally deserves it all; he's that mesmerizing (and let's not forget frightening). Aaron Eckhart did very well in his role as Harvey Dent and was convincing as a do-gooder gone astray. Bale, though overshadowed by his costars, is underrated and did well with what he had. All supporters nailed their part: Maggie did much better than Katie, and I'm not even sure Katie has what it takes; Gary Oldman has more stuff to work with this time around and he's more dynamic.

The score was well done by Zimmer and Howard, and it was mixed into all channels. One particular scene was so riveting in which Harvey was judging Gordon's son's life, and the music literally surrounds you, while you are on the edge of the seat wondering what happens next. The sound mix was very good, much better than the mix for a certain green superhero: it was loud, sure, but it was better controlled than The Hulk. Hopefully, Warner will put out a worthy mix for the BD release.

Anyway, longer to short, go watch The Dark Knight. This is coming from someone who isn't particularly a Batman fan.
