Not to sound negative but nothing has caught my eye for 2015 outside of kingsman. What are some solid indie titles coming out for this year? I'm so burnt out on Marvel, I think I'll take a pass for 2015, though Guardians was killer.

You might like it. My biggest gripe is that it didn't feel anywhere close to being finished, especially in terms of editing and scripting. The ending is kinda badass though.

Oh boy, here we go again:

- Blackhat
- Predestination

Since I try to only watch films I think I'll like.. so far so good. These are both excellent. Fingers crossed for the rest of the year.

Of the big blockbusters, I'm only interested in Avengers and Mockingjay Part 2.

As to the others, so far these ones have grabbed my interest, to one degree or another:

Child 44 -- Looks like it could be interesting, and has a cast that I like.

Pitch Perfect 2 -- It's probably not that good, but I love the cast.

Tomorrowland -- Probably not really my thing, but love Britt Robertson and Clooney. I'm willing to maybe give this a chance. We'll see.

Untitled Cameron Crowe Project -- Whatever it ends up being called, it's Crowe, and has Bradley Cooper, Emma Stone, Rachel McAdams, Alec Baldwin, Bill Murray and more!

Love & Mercy -- Brian Wilson bio-pic and, more importantly, Elizabeth Banks.

Selfless -- Excellent cast and pretty cool premise; I definitely will see how this is received.

Rick and the Flash -- Demme, Diablo, Meryl ... I basically HAVE TO see this.

Regression -- Amenábar, Emma Watson, Ethan Hawke ... could be interesting. I have no idea what it's about, though.

Triple Nine -- A movie about Herman Caine?! No WAY!! Oh, wait, it's a heist flick. This cast is truly unreal. God I hope it's good.

Everest -- Could be really interesting ... or not. But it's got Keira.

Crimson Peak -- del Toro can be hit or miss, but I definitely want to see how this is reviewed.

The Martian -- Sir Ridley, Matt Damon, Jessica Chastain, Kate Mara ... yeah I'm there.

Joy -- David O. Russell? Jennifer Lawrence? Bradley Cooper? A movie about a woman who invents a mop? Where do I sign up!?

Revenant -- Could be interesting. I like the people involved.

Knight of Cups -- This is the one I'm MOST interested in. Can't wait for this.

EDIT: Oh, and Mistress America, for sure. I absolutely LOVED Frances Ha, the last collaboration between Noah Baumbach and Greta Gerwig. So, I can't imagine being let down here.

Yeah I really didn't like TO THE WONDER so I'm not jumping for joy about Malick's newest. I'll still see it. But with reservations.

I'm not ashamed to admit most of my most anticipated films of the year are big studio blockbusters.

Well, I very much liked To The Wonder. But this looks completely different anyhow. But I'm a total, unapologetic Malick fanboy, so ....

UK Cinema Releases of 2014 films in 2015

Foxcatcher - 10/10
Birdman - 9/10
Inherent Vice - 9/10
A Most Violent Year - 9/10
Whiplash - 9/10
Selma - 8/10
Big Hero 6 - 8/10
Wild - 7/10
The Theory of Everything - 7/10
American Sniper - 6/10

That was genuinely appalling, I don't think I've seen a car chase so pants in years. Seriously what the fvck was up with that shipping carriage on the lorry. And Liam Neeson inexplicable walking away from stuff that would obviously kill him. At least Die Hard 5 had the decency to fail with stupid grace rather than simply being full on dull and uninspired.

EDIT: Ex Machina will probably turn up on a lot of peoples most Underrated film of the year, I really liked it. It's everything a director should aim to be, stripped back and focused with ideas spiralling out of your work. It's sort of like everything Transcendence failed to be, while that film bloated with it's idea to fizzle out and say nothing, Ex Machina pulls inwards unveiling stuff while keeping the tension concentrated. My only problem is that the film is too sterile and clinical for me to really embrace it, despite Oscar Issacs wonderfully charismatic turn in the film injecting much needed life, and the ending just doesn't know when to cut to credits.

EDIT 2: Kingsmen, takes a good part of an hour to finally find it's footing, holding off on the real maniac fun until the later parts of the film means it's not quite as anarchic or as steadily handled as Kick-Ass, but when it finally plays it's hand, my god is it glorious. Easily one of the most satisfying flicks of the year.
