OK without starting something can I just ask why Johnny Storm has been changed to a black dude? Johnny and Sue are brother and sister originally so what's happened to that?
You see I don't get this, why do it? why change the race of Johnny Storm and mess up the character backgrounds like that. Is this just to be politically correct because that's all I can think of. It is literately a completely pointless alteration for no reason. |

I'm sure Sue will say something like "my parents fostered him since I was 12, he was like one of our own," type of thing. Unless they don't make them brother and sister.

I would've preferred that, because at least the family dynamic would've been kept. The interracial thing was already done in the first film from 2005, because Alicia Masters was white in the books.

I understand them needing to make the films appealing to all in the modern era (mainly for $$$ of course). But it annoys me when they do this because (some) of these characters have a history or legacy which you shouldn't just play with. Especially when it actually upsets the original plot somewhat for no real reason.

What I'd like to know is how Fox's deal for X-Men and/or Fantastic Four differ from Sony's deal for Spider-Man... if they differ at all.
I wonder this because we know in both cases they have to make a movie with those respective properties at least once every so many years to keep the rights. But is it the same amount of time for both studios... or were the deals written differently? It seemed like Sony was in a big hurry to reboot Spider-Man to get another film out there to keep the rights, and the first Amazing Spider-Man movie came out in 2012, 5 years after the release of Spider-Man 3 in 2007. But the previous Fantastic Four movie also came out in 2007, so by the time this reboot comes out, it will be 8 years since. I would have thought the rights would have reverted back in that amount of time. |
