Journey to the Far Side of the Sun Blu-ray

Quote:
Classic sci-fi adventure and suspense has never been more exciting as when you Journey to the Far Side of the Sun! One hundred years in the future, two astronauts are sent to uncover the secrets of a “duplicate” Earth on the other side of the sun. When they crash land three weeks earlier than they had planned, they must embark on a life-or-death mission to determine whether they have arrived back home or on the strange mirror world. This imaginative space adventure offers a journey few will ever forget!

Saw this as a child on local TV in early 70's.....loved it. Never thought it would make it to BD. Day 1.

Nice to see films like these get a BD release at all. I'm not sure I'm gonna upgrade the DVD, though ...

How did you find this ?
I saw it mentioned on another site with no link and a search of Amazon for the title brought no results.
Your link helpfully goes straight to it but I'm wondering why it fails to appear on a regular search.

Interesting.

I grew up in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and the morning after Thanksgiving they would have free movies for kids at the downtown theatres (there were 3). REAL theatres too....one screen, built decades previously...balconies...the whole deal. One year they had "Journey to the Far Side of the Sun" as one of the offerings.

As the link shows its on Amazon so why does it not show on a search.

Why would Fox be announcing a Universal release?

This is so cool! Very unexpected announcement. I saw this as a kid in the early 1970s when it was shown in a matinee at the army base theater in West Germany where we were living. I haven't seen it since, but I still remember some scenes. It was one of those movies that creeped me out as a kid. I am all over this!

Remember seeing this in the theaters way back when. Btw, I'm quite confident in declaring that I'm the only one who's old enough here to realize that lead actor Roy Thinnes was also the lead star in the 60's scifi tv series, 'The Invaders', which I watched religiously as a child during its 2-season run (entire 43 episodes avail on dvd).

Your confidence is misplaced.

I'm so old that I saw a theatrical double-bill of BLACK SUNDAY and THE FABULOUS WORLD OF JULES VERNE in Fairfield, Iowa, in 1961 on vacation.

Great news about JOURNEY TO THE FAR SIDE OF THE SUN, maybe Universal will finally pay attention to their library.

Different movie poster versions that might be better than the US one sheet.

Well, maybe not.....

Never heard of this but I must say that I am intrigued by the plot. I'll pick it up and give it a try.
