TT can use whatever authoring facility they want. The nerve of some random guy on Facebook to think he can dictate how a company can run itself. Like TT said, he can choose to buy movies from them or not. What seems to bug people like him is that TT doesn't need them. That's the beauty of their business model. He doesn't want to buy Journey? So what. It's still going to sell out. |

Who says they're required to take the higher ground? They could've deleted his comments and banned him or questioned his character the way he questioned theirs. I don't know how long you've been following the Twilight Time horror releases, but if you have then you know every single sell out title brings out the worst of the Blu-ray collector community. Their tolerance for the sense of entitlement these people have was worn out a long time ago. If it wasn't for the horror trolls, we might have gotten a reissue of NOTLD'90 without the blue filter. But now they simply will not revisit that title ever again. This is what the complaints accomplish.

and I've been following TT since the beginning. they deserve all the criticism they get. we would NEVER have gotten a re-release of NOTLD without the blue filter...not without Sony supplying them a brand new master to work with. They know Sony isn't going to give them a new master and sure as hell aren't going to risk getting raked over the coals for putting out the same sh!t twice. if they had gotten a new master from Sony they sure as hell would be re-releasing it along with a giant statement of how it's a brand new master. just to be clear. the reasoning behind him saying this is that a verified replicator insider made a statement on here that they switched to a sub par encoder... I'd take it up with him vs. the guy who ran with the information. the source is a verified blu-ray replicator insider and as such his words hold some weight comparatively

As someone who's worked in retail for many years I always find it amusing when someone gives the customer some crap. Every time I hear the phrase the customer is always right I want to barf. even though in this case there seems to be legit complaints I still applaud TT for standing up for themselves. The solution for the customers is very simple don't buy from them.

as for "I worked for someone else and had to take it".... well DUHHHHHHHHHHH, most smart business learn that you are respectful to the people you're trying to sell something too no matter if they are disrespectful to you. You don't have to take ABUSE, but you should always be calm and respectful. This idea that "retailers should stand up for themselves and tell the customers to f@ck off" usually comes from stressed out retail employees who wish they could punch a jackass customer (and believe you me there are plenty of those), but I guarantee you that idea does NOT come from upper management. Very simply they know building goodwill is PARAMOUNT, even if some crap has to be absorbed by the employees. Business 101 stuff really. Had I been the boss of a person who did that under my watch, I very honestly would have fired him or re-assigned that person on the spot. I actually agree that Conan was a bit aggressive, but this is like most things in life. You can't control the other person, but you can control yourself and your responses, and there was definitely a more tactful way to handle that. Last edited by wormraper; 01-30-2015 at 11:39 AM. |

And again, TT is doing fine with their business model and practices. Somehow they manage to grow without being fake nice to rude customers. |

Most certainly why they aren't touching it. And I wouldn't either if I was in their shoes. Not unless Sony supplies a fixed master. And again. I will reiterate THERE WAS NO CHANCE OF THEM RE RELEASING THE MOVIE WITH A FIXED COLOR TONE as you said. The horror "trolls" had nothing to do with that. That's all on Sony and not supplying a different master. All they did was stop them from re releasing a warmed over edition of the same smurf transfer as three years ago...I have no doubt TT would capitalize on the title if a new master was used...they easily could tout the new master as a marketing tool. Kind of like how "mastered in 4K" is banded around now. But again. That's because of Sony, not the people who complained...all the complainers have done is make them not want to touch the same flawed master

It was confirmed that it was a previous master from a couple of years ago. At least the one used on VUDU and Netflix. It was in use before the tt master was struck

In all honesty the older master may not even be in full HD. It could be 720 or 1080i. A lot of older HD cable masters aren't quite up to snuff for new Blu-ray releases. However, I guess that doesn't stop some companies from releasing them that way. Sony has a higher standard than that. Otherwise they probably would have just provided that one in the first place. NOTLD '90 is dark but I have gotten used to it. At least it was an intentional look and not a mistake.

Yes it would. Sony would have to provide it and they haven't. They replaced that older master with the new blue one. The VUDU/Netflix file very well may be the last of that old master. Netflix/VUDU/TV stations etc don't get access to the master. Broadcast files MADE from the master are struck and distributed to all of them and that's what is being used. No one knows if that master even EXISTS any more with the newer bluer transfer replacing it...those old VUDU broadcast files may be the last remnants of that older master. No one knows...the end point however is that Sony hasn't provided anyone that master for several years and certainly didn't offer it to TT (especially since they said that Sony asked them to re release the three they are releasing)
