If you're going to pretend you don't know what a comparison is, I'm afraid there's no point in having a discussion. I've been attempting to have a civilized conversation, but I don't see how that's possible with that type of behavior.

You could try. It depends on how incremental the gamma adjustment is on your set. Try knocking it down a notch. It may actually fix the problem. Although a notch on the set could be more than needed but you'll never know unless you try it. it wouldn't be a cure all but could mask it a bit.

Looks like I need to step in again...
1.) Am I an insider? You better believe. I'd bet money you own a disc that I've worked on. 2.) Is the encoder defective? I'd rather stick with my original answer of inferior. 3.) Will TT be using the same facility for future releases? 99% chance they will be. 4.) Will the inferior encoder be used on future releases? 100% chance of it unless the 1% chance from question 3 happens. Quote:

I think that Conan guy was a jerk and I also think the TT rep was unprofessional and petty. No one looks good in that conversation, not sure why people are taking sides.

I'm not targeting individuals mate its just us film collectors have never had it so good and while its a very good thing that some stay on top of things to keep the companies in some sort of check, it goes too far. I don't even believe half the people who say they can see defects, i believe they are just trying to posistion themselves as having a keener eye than others, it bogs down 80% of the threads in this place.

I checked out the problem spots on my 50" plasma and could just BARELY notice that there MIGHT be an issue. Anyone complaining about this can easily sell their copy for the money they've invested and be back at square one. If they're still unhappy, then they need to man-up and start their own Blu-Ray production company.

I'm probably going to regret this, but I took some pics of my monitor with my camera since there is no way I'm going to waste anymore time trying to get real captures (since it doesn't look like there is a free solution anyway).
I know these look like crap, so I'm sure there will be the "let's not base this on poor pics taken by a camera" argument. I do think they give an ok indication of what we're talking about, though. Hopefully someone with the proper software can take real captures at some point. This is a frame where quite a bit of the image turns into a mess. This isn't a camera blur. Those stairs actually turn into a blobby mess as well as part of Sarandon's arm. It's not a far cry from what went on with "The Matrix Revolutions", but that was one frame out of the entire movie. There's more than that here. ![]() To compare using the same crappy camera images, this is the same frame from the previous TT release: ![]() During the clock pan, this is where things get messy (it would be way more clear with a real capture): ![]() And this is what it looks like a frame later after it looks normal again: ![]() That happens a couple of times during the pan. Again, the examples given do not mean that is the only time these issues pop up. Some are less noticeable than others. Is it the end of the world if this is the only release one owns? No. Is there an encoding issue? yeah, there is. Last edited by BrandonJF; 01-30-2015 at 03:57 PM. Reason: Replaced second pic with an image of the same frame from the previous release |

I don't see what everyone else is seeing with this 30th anniversary release. It looks great as far as I'm concerned. Typed too soon, pics right above my post. I can see how that would annoy some but to me it's not a huge deal. Now if the actor all of a sudden became blurry and lost detail then I would be pissed.

The moderators have already asked for no more aggressive posts. You can choose to pretend not to understand my comparisons, but I will no longer engage in a childish discussion.
