You just made my point.
I wouldn't be suprised if you work for TT.. You must be by how much your defending them.

You're reading those Facebook comments like the guy was personally attacking you!

Get over yourself, if there are problems with a product, (that were not supposed to be there) and customers have paid a high price for it, then they have every right to complain about it.

This isn't the same, though. This is corruption of the image. It doesn't exist in the previous release. We've also heard the theory that the increase in detail has made these more apparent, which doesn't make sense, either.

I am not sure why this is so hard to believe beyond a couple of people repeatedly trying to say anything they can to discredit the "claims" that these issues exist. I think I saw some posts where they had moved on to suggesting the whole thing was made up, which pretty much tells you everything you need to know about their side of the "debate".

I don't know how often this pops up, but if people can watch it and not notice then why care? Be happy you don't notice the issues. I'm not sure how big of a deal it would be for me if there wasn't an alternative. I'd think it was unfortunate, but still watchable. Fortunately, there are alternatives out there. If someone could only buy one version, that would be a tough call given how substantial the extras are on the new TT disc.

Well if there is a problem with encoding, hopefully it was just this disc since I've found TT encodes to be preaty reliable in the past.

You may disagree with Nick, but if you're going to personally mock him and then wonder why he ignores the claims people make. Just saying.

This thread turned to crap fast so I'm out. I'll just say I see nothing wrong with the first release and am glad I own it.

Fright Night is a great movie!

I've watched it with my boys, we all loved it.

I was pleased with the quality.

It has now been filed away with my collection.

Life now continues on....

I'd like to watch and file mine away as well, but sadly it still hasn't turned up, it always seems like I'm the last one to get it it must be coming up here by dog sledge.

Looking back at those comparison pics I have to say not only are they an unfair comparison due to being cell phone pics but that one pic where Chris Sarandon's face gets blurry is something that didn't happen when I watched the movie. Which is because as you said, people like to go frame by frame and when you break something in motion down to that level it's going to be a bit blurry.
Indeed! At 24 fps these "defects" don't really exist at all. Which is kind of the point of video compression.

People reported this because they seen it during regular playback a.k.a in motion. It's not like it's been reviewed here with screen caps or on caps-a-holic for people to analyze and scrutinize.

Why does everyone want to know where I work when I disagree with them? "Who is the mysterious Phantom Cat who's logic and reasoning are infallible? Who are his people? How did he come by this great knowledge and will he share it with us?"

Calm down. I'm just like you only smarter and better looking.

I don't even think the "much more obvious comparison" is that bad. It's clearly there, but I can't get excited about it.

Initially it was reported to only be visible on 100" screens. Then people with 47" screens started calling it glaring and obvious. And several people have stated they don't see what others are talking about. So it's both obvious and non existent. Only apparent on 100" screens and glaringly obvious on 47" screens. This brings to mind the Emperor's New Clothes.

I'm not even "excited" about it. I just won't watch that version except when I'm watching it with the commentary on. Otherwise, I'll be using the prior release to just watch the movie.

I don't think any of the people reporting the problem are looking for everyone else to be upset by it. If people are ok with it, great. It doesn't mean it should be considered "acceptable" or defended. It's not normal and, despite what someone else is trying to theorize, it's not some common issue with Blu-ray discs that we just don't usually notice. I've watched plenty and this is the first time I've noticed something like it.

TT should at least be looking into the cause and making sure it doesn't happen again rather than sound eerily similar to some posting in this thread who want to believe the issue doesn't even exist.

If this were a WB release, a replacement program would probably already be in place.

While I initially liked the 30th encode better due to the extra detail, the more I watch the more issues I find that together are outweighing the detail gain. Also leaning towards initial TT release as best a/v now. The dts2.0 track is nothing special so no loss there.

Genuine question, why don't you just sell it then? you will definatley make your money back with maybe a little profit. You can get the commentaries online as well. No harm no foul. can i ask you 1 more too? and i don't mean to be trolling or anything as you are 100% entitled to any view you want but are you quite young? you say you will never watch this version again but did you not watch the film on far inferior forms in years gone by. again, maybe just sell it, even to somebody off here who missed out.

It wasn't reported only to be visible on a projector screen. The poster who first made reference to it stated he was projecting the image.

That brings me to a point I made to you earlier in which you never replied too. Some people project Predator UHE or the first release of Patton and claim to not see any problems. Others with smaller screens can easily detect the heavy filtering that's been applied to both those releases. Some people are just more sensitive to certain issues. But again it does not mean they don't exist and it does not mean that everyone will not notice them.

again just sell it then as there is no chance of a replacement for such minor defects if they even exist at all. Lifes to short to be waisting any time on such unimportant matters especially as you would be out of pocket for not so much as a penny.

Agree this is a 5000 limited run there is no way there will be replacements, too costly to redo encode, repress discs, shipping etc.

To be clear with TT you are not paying for a premium product, you are paying for a limited product.

Not just that but it goes back to what I typed in my previous post about how most people who nitpick or notice these flaws(on their own at least, without the help of others)were focusing more on looking for flaws rather than watch the movie itself.

Tonight I'm going to put on the movie and skip to that scene to see if maybe I'm wrong and it is that obvious, I doubt it though...
