I've noticed different pricing going from store to store, usually Wal-Mart and H-E-B Plus being cheaper than Best Buy and FYE, but for the most part I've seen about the same pricing for all BD's.

In addition $27.95 for a high quality new release (not catalog) is not a bad price.
Let's see $27.95 for a new release v. $36.50 for my wife, son and myself to see a movie in the theater (before popcorn and drinks). What is a better value for my dollar...

BTW also got the Mummy movies for $20, can't wait to watch and have my yell about the volume and my son wanting it louder

Not even close. This is just flat-out misinformation. New release DVDs at Best Buy and Wal-Mart have been around $16 for years now.

exactly, if they were lowering the price to $15-20 the first week of releasing (amazon prices mind you) I wouldn't mind so much, but when they're not really discounted like regular DVD's are then it starts to get ridiculous.

BDs will not be consistently at DVD prices until DVD is dead.

You pay a premium for a better product.

But it would not surprise me if blu-ray prices come to only about 5 bucks more than a DVD in the future. But when I mean the future, I mean a couple years.

I see no misinformation, only misreading on your part.
Blu is a NEW format.
When VHS tapes came out, I paid $95 for Return of the Jedi the day it was released.
When dvds first hit, they were at a premium as were laser disks.
Yet for some reason people want to forget the past because it makes their points seem rather weak.
A couple of years from now blus will be even cheaper but no, all of the whiny little bastards on these forums want it now, they want everything cheap because they have some odd belief that they are owed something.
YOU bought into blu way, nobody forced you and you bought into it knowing the prices.
For the record also alot of those new release dvds that you speak of are the single disk versions with the two disk versions selling at a premium.

If even that long.
It all comes down to production costs, and as costs keep coming down that rolls down to the consumer.

Very true. I think this holiday season will be a tell-tale sign of what is to come in the future. I'm hoping for a blu Christmas!!

I agree with you and honestly it is how it should be, production costs ARE higher for blu right now.

I Bought all my dvds at a pawnshop(5 bucks a pop)I have about 500 nowMaybe 20 of them i bought new.

Blu-ray is still new,But i know in time i"ll be seeing more of them in pawnshops and when that happens I'll be there.Thats when my blu-ray collection will flourish

I like to also comment about "the whining sticky"i understand how some people can lose it when reading the same old " *****ing feast thing"over and over again.

I started losing it on people for calling samsung"samsuck"When i think of it now it's funny(But ,Man was i pissed)I think we all have are breaking points.

We all have a choice not to read into a thread and to not comments (especially when it's darn right mean)and trust me iam no angel but sometimes i get a moment of clarity.

The way i look at it is you can join in a thread and add mean comments to new members and make them feel small( your part of the problem)or just don't comment and move on (be part of the solution)Find a thread that interest you.(there's a lot out there)

In my experience Wal-Mart has been one of the cheaper Blu-ray retailers. It is Best Buy and Target that have really never discounted Blu-rays aside from studio promotions.

... Are you actually thinking of Wal Mart? Because they're the cheapest B&M store I know of around me. Target, Best Buy and Circuit City (unless they price match their website) all ask $5-$15 more than Wal Mart.

That is true, thats were i bought my new avp for $33.There very pricey. But like i said i had the money and i really, really wanted it at that moment . I can't belive iam saying this because walmart has so many deals going on all the time in there store ,Just not for the newer blu movies
That's how it is here in canada anyway and remember we pay GST tax and PST tax ontop of that.

i am talking about wal-mart. the store that is owned by the same people who owns sam's club. and no their prices aren't good. the last time i was there most blu-ray was $24.99-$30. that's not cheap. i can get cheaper at f.y.e. in a lot of cases. there are local stores cheaper around me than wal-mart. target's actually cheaper in some cases. there aren't a lot of sales at wal-mart.

Actually I don't think there are sales at Wal Mart. But I believe they were charging $24.99 for Cloverfield vs. $34.99 at Target. Or Blades of Glory - $18.99 at Wal Mart vs. $34.99 at Target. Most of the time, if a movie is $24.99 at one place, it's $19.99 at Wal Mart. Basically, most of the time movies are $5 cheaper at Wal Mart than any of the other stores around me. But I don't go there as I am a member of Amazon Prime.

i never noticed any cheap blu-rays at wal-mart myself. but i don't go there often enough to really notice a whole lot. the last time i was there i was going to buy a blu-ray, but i was insulted by what the price they were asking for.
