The French disc looks pretty good, but the German disc looks worse than the DVD (both discs are B locked). IDK if the French disc is uncut though.

There appears to be a new German version available from Studio Canal (the first German release was from Koch Media):

I wonder how it compares to the French disc.

Hasn't been released yet. Amazon has a release date of Dec 31 2015 but thats most likely a placeholder date.

Thanks for pointing this out. I didn't actually click on the link to Amazon.de from the entry in the database, I don't normally for the non English divisions unless I'm using Chrome. I might change the date in the database so there is no confusion. Some fool is even showing it in their collection as owned, I hate when members do that for titles that aren't available.

well looking at the caps i don't think there can be a much better version than the french one. It looks really nice from those caps and people are saying it to. Its hard to believe a better version can exist of this movie

Out of the two of us I'm the only one who owns the French disc and has seen it first hand . It's not a bad disc at all IMO, but like with many releases it could be improved upon. I wasn't attacking it's quality, I just remember seeing some state that they prefer the old color timing, and this is where what I said about being curious to compare it to the new German disc (obviously now I know there is no such disc) stemmed from.

I absolutely love this film and wish it would get a US release.

While it kinda bombed at the Box Office, I really thought it had a lot going for it.

<~ BIG John Carpenter fan here.

i just looked on the cut scenes. it does not seem like this is severe cuts at all. You hardly notice the cuts at least from the screen shots there it seems like almost nothing is missing. So these cuts does not really make sense

Problems with the master perhaps? Print damage? Who knows. But it is annoying nonetheless.

So there's 23 seconds of material missing that doesn't impact the movie whatsoever? LOL! The PQ looks great on the French release though, so it's not a big issue for me.

Is it me or is the color timing on the French release way off? The dvd version has this red tone to it and although the French blu-ray looks extremely crisp, it looks way too bright and colorful. It's a bit like a reverse 'Scanners'.

Look at this for example: http://caps-a-holic.com/hd_vergleich...ess=#vergleich
