I didnt think it was that bad actually. Not great but it wasnt terrible IMO. the same actor who was Satan in End of Days , Gabriel Byrne, was on the side of good this time !

I saw this film in theaters and loved it. the imagery, colors, soundtrack, it was very in line with 1999. Patricia Arquette was amazing as always, who just won her first Oscar!!!
Love this film and am slightly scared for a transfer. Why? The film went through a skip bleach process, making the colors contrast more, especially red, and the film appears very grain like. This will need some restoration, but too much will actually ruin the grain and contrast...hmmmm...we shall see what happens. Over correcting results in wax looking faces...please no! The front cover really should say "Academy Award Winner Patricia Arquette" over the credits. really. ![]() |

I used to get obsessed with a movie for a large chunk of time and Stigmata was an obsession for me when it hit theaters. I really enjoyed it and have been waiting for a blu-ray release since I first started collecting them. Scream's been releasing some fun titles from my wish list as of late and I couldn't be happier. Hoping for a nice transfer.

That is how I mostly feel about Stigmata. It's a decent genre film that looks better in retrospect because Hollywood has moved away from that genre these days.

1.) I still remember this movie as being one of the first times I was ever really impressed by a DVD menu. The animation and score being integrated into a menu that really set the tone for the movie.
2.) I hope that in this new blu ray, that they fix a streaming issue that's been going on since the DVD was released. When you watch the movie, whether you chose the theatrical or alternate ending, there was an obvious cut from where Gabriel Byrne confronts Paolo Amaeda and when he brings Frankie outside. I hope that's been corrected as it was always really obvious. 3.) This remains, for me anyway, the best of the "apocalyptic religious thrillers" that were released in 1999 (the others being 'End Of Days', 'Lost Souls' and, to a certain degree, 'The Omega Code'). I'm very much looking forward to revisiting this on blu thanks to Scream Factory. |

So true! I remember watching it and liking it, but yet now, I can not remember one thing about it. I need to re-watch before buying.
