This is exactly how I feel.

The only problem I have this time is the "online only" thing for Martell and Tyrell. Going to stop by on release date and hope they are mistaken (not holding my breath)

Man I am so behind. I do not own the discs, however I do own seasons 1 and 2 on Vudu and yet I just now finished episode 4 of Season 1.

Too much work. Just look at the price trackers in the database.

Who said they "hate" DVD? Most of us just simply have no use for them when we have the blu rays.

There's an epic thread about DVD hate.

Hahaha... Only read a page, but yeah. Calm down folks.

I do identify with being frustrated so many don't see a difference though. That's not hating the format though, just wanting HD discs to succeed.

Never bothered with the Best Buy exclusive slips because the season 1 box set already has the Houses of Lannister, Stark, Targaryen and Baratheon on the front of the box which has a nice textured feel to it.

The last two seasons have spoiled some people in terms of price I guess. I don't really have a problem with $35 seeing how S1 was that much without digital copies and DVDs. At least we're getting digital copies. The more episodes on each disc also isn't that big of a deal since previous seasons have had 3 episodes on discs, so quality won't be dropping off.

Except Season 2 started off with less quality than Season 1.
Every reviewer and a lot of us noticed it right away!

Yep. The truth is that the past 2-3 seasons have been priced unusually cheap for such quality entertainment. HBO and stores know this show will sell for $50 & $60. It's worth that. They aren't going to keep pricing it at $25. We should be thankful that is still $35-$40. That's still a great price.

Why do people still keep saying there are more episodes on season four's discs? This has already been covered. There are discs from the first three seasons that have three episodes just like season four:

Photo from Brian White's review on whysoblu.com

Brian White's review on whysoblu.com did not have a good picture of disc 1, but we can see that it only has episodes one and two, while disc 2 has three episodes.

As does disc 3

And disc 4 has two episodes.

We are getting fewer discs but it seems that we are not getting more episodes stuffed onto any of the discs on the new set. We are not getting any discs with single episodes (season one had two discs with just one episode but also had two discs with three!). So that seems to mean less standard (not retailer exclusive) bonus content, which I have not seen complaints about.

I know, the whole discussion is just absurd. It comes from the "if I can't complain, I have nothing to say" faction. Clearly there was a ton of wasted space on the previous sets, as folks commented on it here and elsewhere (personally, I lent my set to a friend and the first thing he and his wife said after "thanks that was awesome" was "what was with that one episode on one disc", LOL).

HBO isn't going to suddenly introduce some substandard encoding to save a disc on their flagship series, not to mention the one that just may well end up supplanting Sopranos as it's "signature".

There is no doubt that this release will be just like the first 3 - near-reference quality material, and there is zero evidence at this time of that changing.

Whatever. They aren't getting any money from me. I refuse to buy incomplete products. If the European versions can include all of the Retailer Exclusive featurettes, so can the American version.

It is annoying, but since I don't care about featurettes really I find it hard to be that mad about it. If they made commentaries exclusive (like Star Trek Into Darkness did) then I would be pissed.

I'm actually the opposite -- I like featurettes and rarely listen to audio commentaries. Some Universal and Warner BDs have awesome visual commentaries, where the people talking will pause, rewind, or fast forward the movie to make their points. Otherwise, I find audio commentaries to be counterproductive. The commentators might still be talking about something that passed minutes ago, or they'll be talking about something completely irrelevant.

Furthermore, they bury the commentaries in the actual audio mix, which is annoying.

But the really important and interesting extras like the House Lore and Histories are on the standard set. The store exclusives discs are a nice cherry on top. But you would probably only watch them like once.

Why do people always say that? How do you know how many times I'll watch stuff?
