Haha yep. damn them!

So I watched The Bling Ring. Sorry. But I didn't care much it. But that's cause the characters were so vapid, shallow, spoiled and annoying. But that's how the real people were I imagine. 2/5.

Yeah unfortunately, that's how they really were. Emma is dazzling in that movie.

Bling Ring was average. Emma's great in it, though, in a very different role, but let's face it she's the only reason it's in my collection.

I don't think I'll watch it again. Or at least like Wallflower which I could see revisiting.

But the main character in The Bling Ring isn't one of the ring, or even the ring itself. It's society. If it were a fictional story, I would call it a satire. But it isn't satire, since it's what actually happened.

Think of it this way: Who/what is the main character in Fight Club? Norton's Narrator? Pitt's Tyler Durden? Neither. Again, it's modern society. It's obsession with IKEA and self-improvement as masturbation and coming up with a "personal brand." The main character is the loss of what it means to be a human being. The main character is the pointless, commercialized society that swallows up every last individual and digests him.

The Bling Ring is actually very similar, though Coppola obviously uses a much lighter touch than Fincher did (not surprisingly). But really the message is essentially same. In Fight Club it's corporate brands and commercialization, in The Bling Ring it's Christian Louboutin shoes and Gucci handbags.

The Daily Telegraph says that production (presumably pre-production) has started on La La Land and that it will start shooting next month (heard that elsewhere too):
