MS would try it IF they could, but they can't. I don't believe they have enough money to buy 51% of Sony even with TOTAL liquidation of assets. No less own that and shift $16 billion to buying 1st party employees (plus, I believe that's highly illegal). See what I mean?

![]() Also, first party devs/emps are under contract, and are obligated to it, right? There's no buy-out option? Besides, I was thinking M$ paid off the people who's contracts were up (this was when I was dumb enough to believe the article). |

As someone old enough to remember the OS wars of the early 90s I got sucked in. MS has done this before to force inferior products onto the market place. (ie: take away consumer choice) Not even the courts have been able to stop them. So it's reasonable to think that they would try this tactic again.

I saw it was a joke pretty fast, but it still made me smile
![]() They would probably be more subtle than that though... The Lawsuit resulting from such a gigantic bribe and unfair practice would bring MS to its knees, if not resulting in all its assets being confiscated and the entire company put on control by the government. The OMC would get involved, the economic relations between Japan and the US seriously damaged, etc ![]() It would be awesome to witness this, even if for a long time it would create quite the mess in the videogame biz. There is absolutely no way MS, or any other company, could get away with this (and Im sure people in other industries have already thought about neutralizing competition by buying out the smaller companies they rely on, e.g. Car business). P.S: MS/Xbox's booth at the Comiccon was pathetic, but I had a blast on Naruto and LBP elsewhere ![]() Congratulations on the SOE/ SCEA and Sony Pictures booths, they were some of the best on the other hand. |

"John" should have held out for $150 million and a promise only to stick with Microsoft until their platform failed. Worked awesome for Paramount and Dreamworks Animation. Plus, once Warner... er, Rockstar... tells Microsoft to take a hike you'll be fired... er, allowed to resign, anyway.
