My whole point before was that Scream needs to get out of the MGM rut that they're currently in. It's not impossible, other labels smaller than they are somehow get obscure titles and do great things with them. |

I am hoping upon hope that people eat up these two new double features. I was really disappointed when they came out with the 4 packs with subpar transfers for some of the films. I'm hoping that they can see the benefit to making properly made blurays. I will be first in line for both as I have wanted to see Cellar Dwellar and The Outing in widescreen for a long time.
I really hope they decide to go back and do some of the non horror titles in bluray too. I was so saddened to see Arena, Eliminators, America 3000, The Barbarians, Naked Cage, Savage Island, Trackdown, and Scorchy plus others in cruddy full frame transfers. I have no problem with dvd's or 4 packs..but seeing as how these films are sublicensed already, Scream/ Shout is the last resort for them being done properly. All of the ones mentioned...especially Eliminators and Arena were on my want lists for YEARS. I was saddened by the cruddy vhs era masters of these on the 4 packs. PLEASE let these sell well so they can see the profit in going back and re doing some of these other titles that need the love. |

I'm still wondering about The Outing. Scream is creating a new transfer from what, exactly? I thought the whole reason they used a VHS copy on the DVD was because that was all that was available to them.
Is it gonna be like The Final Terror, where they went with battered prints? Cause honestly, that's not all that exciting... |

I dislike talk like "they shouldn't bother with X" and so on. Some of these films have great nostalgic value I am sure, and the whole point of a licensor like Scream is to release stuff on BD the studios won't. I know I aim to get all the Corman sci-fi movies and other schlock, and I am sure many would say putting those on BD was pointless. It's not.
That said Scream did build a reputation with high profile 80's slashers and sci-fi, so it's understandable some would be disappointed at the lack of new announcements in those areas. I'm sure they're coming though, and some are announced. Scream likely has to pace themselves with the big stuff if they want to be around a while. |

Ghost Town sounds like it'll be one that I would like, and I'll gladly upgrade The Outing and Godsend. I liked the first 4-pack they released, but those two didn't look good. I believe neither were in their correct aspect ratio. The only movie that looked decent on that release was The Vagrant, which I'd love to upgrade at some point, too. I've never heard of Jack's Back or Nomads, though.
Even though there are some titles coming out this summer that aren't for me, there are plenty of other titles that I'm looking forward to: Sleepaway Camp 2 & 3, I, Madman, Dog Soldiers, Scarecrows, etc. Most of the double features aren't doing much for me, but there are plenty of fans that prefer those titles. I used to purchase every Scream Factory release, including blind buys simply because they were part of the SF lineup. But I found a few that I didn't really care for, so I'd rather just get the titles I know I'm going to like -- of which, there are still plenty. And when I see a title announced that isn't for me, I'm not disappointed. Besides, the bigger titles are usually reserved for September - November. And, last year, I think they started announcing those titles around May. |

I think there are some interesting releases in the Friday the 13th announcements. I will be buying all of them for sure. I'm most looking forward to the double feature packs and Ghost Town. But, all of the films I remember from the halcyon days of Vhs, and remember seeing these flicks in every rental store.
To be honest there are few heavy hitting horror releases left to be released on blu ray. Sure they could try and get Phantasm, Dawn of the Dead etc.. But I'm sure they have tried and tried for these releases. The majority of horror releases from any company from now on are going to be niche titles. I hope people give these films a shot because a lot of them are fun movies, and to have them in HD is unexpected and welcome. I'd rather have films that have never seen Blu ray releases than another reissue of a bigger film. |

But of course, this is only going on MGM titles. Another thought - if these The Outing/Godsend and Cellar Dweller/Catacombs releases sell well, I'd love to see a Blu-ray upgrade of The Evictors at some point. Last edited by BarnDoor; 03-14-2015 at 01:05 PM. |

Guess I'm in the minority here, but I'm excited for the titles that've been announced recently. Ghost Town and Jack's Back both look like fun blind buys, and I'm really looking forward to I,Madman.

I heard another label has Sometimes They Come Back
Maybe some of the CE editions are some of the Italian films that a recent poster made about reading an SF post on Twitter.. Maybe they scored Opera, Beyond the Door, Shock or Four Flies on Grey Velvet - something along those lines. I know that they have to seek other avenues since other labels are gutting the MGM films. I think its a safe bet that Shout probably has gotten a lot of the post 80s horror stuff from MGM.. |

I'm surprised that Scream has still not got into Sony's vaults yet. Every other company is releasing Sony stuff but Scream. |

Jack's Back is an AMAZING film. It's hardly "bottom of the barrel".
Every release can't be The Fog or Night Breed... Scream Factory is still doing really great work and they have a ton on the horizon that I can't wait to pick up! |
