Heads up, looks like Shout is doing the March Madness sale again soon. If you go to last year's sale page the graphic says "coming soon."

Why are you trying to sell us on this movie?

I have absolutely zero interest in this film. It doesn't matter to me who appeared in the movie, or who the cinematographer was. I wasn't interested in this film when it was in the theaters, and wouldn't want a copy of it if it was given to me for free.

It's great that you're a fan of this movie, but recognize that others are not.

Get off your high horse. He was responding to someone who doesn't think SF should release it with reasons why they should. The fact that the movie had a star-studded cast and was directed by a known director would probably result in decent sales. Would you dispute that?

I never said Scream Factory shouldn't release the film. Just that it (and Pyscho IV) shouldn't be priorities at this time. If we restrict the library to only films owned by Universal, than I have no problem bumping it up the list considerably, however to say that out of all the films still available that haven't had Blu Ray releases that those 2 should be the 2 front runners was just silly to me. Universal has several films I'd like to see first... but more than that, as my original thought alluded to when looking at filmas a whole, (Lionsgate, Warner, Universal, Sony, Independent) there are easily 20+ more deserving films.

On a completely unrelated note though... is/did anyone catch Ghoulies and Ghoulies II today on IFC? Both were in HD and while I only caught part II, it looked Amazing! If this is the encode that's going to show up on the Blu Ray I'll be very happy. I'm sure people will find problems with it because people like to disect things piece by piece, but in day lighting, and casual viewing on a Sunday Afternoon the movie looks Great and I think seeing this just sold me on buying the Blu Ray that much sooner. If anyone wants to check it out it's on for another 30 minutes or so if you tune in quick!

My comment wasn't aimed at you all. Everyone's entitled to their opinions, I just don't see why people have to catch grief for sharing them. I don't think jupiter was trying to make people like the movie so much as explain why it's a good candidate for release. I haven't seen Death Becomes Her, although it looks fun judging by the trailer. I like the cast and director, so I'm interested in watching it.

I'm at a loss to understand the mindset of people who delight in re-issue of common movies that are already available on BD while, at the same time, thumbing their noses at first time issues of video rarities.

The horror community isn't what it used to be. Horror fans used to be adventurous, experimental and took delight in the off-beat. Now, there seems to be a group that just wants more of the same..."Hey, I saw ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK on TV last month so I bought the Blu-ray...then I saw it on TV again last week so now I want to buy it on another Blu-ray. And MISERY is so good on that cheap Blu-ray that I think Scream Factory should put it on an more expensive Blu-ray".
Speaking for myself, I would like to see Misery reissued, of only for the extras that were on the Collector's Edition DVD to be ported over (meaning I wouldn't have to hang onto both the DVD and Blu-Rays). I enjoy the supplements on releases, and if a reissue of a previously-released-on-Blu title results in that (as long as the PQ and AQ doesn't suffer, of course), I'm all for it. To me, it was silly that MGM didn't port over the supplements from their 2-Disc SE DVD of Escape From New York, and now that's being rectified.

That doesn't mean I'm automatically "thumbing my nose" at the titles Scream announced on Friday. I stand by my earlier comment that they appear to be reaching the bottom of the barrel with the titles they've gotten. MGM has had its catalog mined left and right, by multiple labels, so I'm not surprised to see it get to this point. With that said, I'm not against these titles getting released at all; in a perfect world, all films would be available in the best possible quality, and I'm glad they're being made available for those whom are fans, or are interested in checking them out.

It would make a great release, especially if Universal actually gave them access to the footage that was cut with the Tracey Ullman/Bruce Willis subplot. Or, be still my heart, the original cut of the film as an extra. I couldn't give a shit how mainstream the movie is, it's hilarious and very deserving of a spiffy Blu package.

I'd pay through the nose to watch an obese Goldie Hawn eat jars of frosting with her fingers while gleefully watching Meryl Streep get strangled to death in HD.

So far we've got only ONE High Profile release so far in 2015... Escape From New York (Mad Max a close runner up).

Scream built their rep on cult classic 80's horror. It makes sense many people expect that from them every time.

I don't care much about labels though, so to me it's kind of irrelevant who puts out what and I am just glad movies are getting released on BD that might otherwise not.

Scream Factory has a huge slate of planned releases, but for some reason, none of them has me extremely excited - I'm not just interested in the bigger titles, but the smaller titles announced just aren't the ones I would like to see. Thankfully, there are still plenty of planned vintage genre movies being released that I am excited about - but from other companies. Madman and Last House on Dead End Street from Vinegar Syndrome, Sugar Hill, Savage Weekend, and possibly Raw Meat from Kino Lorber, the Italian and Slasher lines from 88 Films, particularly Anthropophagus, etc. Scream Factory just hasn't hit the bull's eye on my personal dartboard recently, but I'm hoping they will eventually strike a deal with another company besides MGM, as there are plenty of fun smaller titles being sat on by big companies - and yes, I am aware that some of them don't sublicense, damn them!

Not at all, which is why I replied to your post. As I mentioned, the post in question made a case for why the movie should be released, not why you (or anyone else) has to like it.

Why, in your opinion, should SF not release this movie? (Other than you personally not having any interest in it.)

Likewise. I would think the title, just based on who was in front of and behind the camera, would get released eventually...

I haven't seen DEATH BECOMES HER since the theater.... I remember liking it somewhat but not loving it. It has that odd mix of cartoonish humor along with seriousness that doesn't succeed entirely... kind of like THE FRIGHTENERS...
