I've made no bones about my personal wish that the movie disappoints because I want the rights to go back to Marvel. But I'm also realistic about that happening.

So, let's take inventory. Aside from the trailer and some stills, it's really hard to know exactly what we have here in terms of a story and a movie. Those question marks really aren't helped much by that FF is coming late in a very busy summer, after most of the geek culture audience that might be most keen will have already had Avengers, Ant-Man and, to a lesser extent, Jurrasic World, to fill them up. Plus, by August, the build to Star Wars will be in earnest. Needless to say, especially with the cloud of bad press the movie has had, it's going to be a bit of a challenge for this movie to be anything but a surprise hit at best.

And yet, even if the movie is NOT a smash success, I for one do not believe it will impact Fox's plans. Unless it is the biggest flop this side of Howard the Duck, Fox will push on. They have a sequel in the works and they already have a built in financial firewall in place with X-Men to permit them to press on, barring nothing but tumbleweeds showing up opening week. And honestly, I just am not getting a failure vibe off the movie, not yet anyway. I think the curious, the hardcore and the stubborn just may pull FF out of the fire.

Besides, now that there is the agreement with Sony to share Spider-Man, why would Fox willingly give up something they know Marvel can probably make money with? Answer - they won't.

Long story short - box office be damned, FF is going to be with Fox for at least two movies and I think they will find a way to merge with X-Men, just to keep it out of Marvel's grasp. Sad fact, but it's the feeling I'm getting at the moment. Maybe in July, after another trailer and the big guns are out, the feeling may change, but not now.

What I absolutely do not get, is why cant the studio deliver a good movie? Like how hard is it to get a movie like this made right? its baffling.

I guess you too didn't get your crystal ball. Many pages ago, Moviefan was nice enough to send forum members crystal balls which allowed the majority here to see that it is a bad movie.

Miles Teller Indicates That The Fantastic Four Will Have Costumes

Quote:
Seeing as Josh Trank's version of the Fantastic Four will gain their powers as part of some sort of military think tank (similar to the Ultimate line of comic books), it makes sense that they will at first be wearing "containment suits" which help them to control their newfound abilities. The lack of the classic costumes emblazoned with the "4" logo has upset a lot of comic book fans however, but Miles Teller may have now given them a reason to chill out. Talking to ScreenCrush recently, he indicated that the team will indeed wear their original costumes at some point in the reboot. "These are the beta versions of the costumes, which is great […] But, yeah it would be very odd if the Fantastic Four didn’t don the traditional costumes. You’ve got to. There is some servicing there. You’ve got to give that to the fans. That’s what it’s all about."

We'll see. I'd like if it they actually had their classic costumes. Hopefully the classic costumes won't appear as "cameos" at the very end of the film.

So the hell what! What is wrong with them showing up in classic costumes at the end of the movie? is it really that important to you that they have to be in their classic costumes earlier in the film? Will that make it a better film with a number 4 on their shirt? If the movie is good, it will be a respectable film. If the movie is bad, the movie will be torn apart. That's all!

The dude just admitted that there will be classic costumes in the film and the first reaction is to make a negative comment as has been so for the past hundred pages of this thread?

Hahaha... he tells people who have been complaining that they did use the traditional costumes, and then people still complain because they aren't there from the start.

This just cements that the people complaining are mostly Marvel Studios fanboys who would complain no matter what.

To be fair, it doesn't seem like it's just MS fans...It's just comic fans. Remember, Aquaman's look was met with a lot of derision as well. It's getting exhausting...What matters is if the movie is good. That's really the end of it. Movies and comics don't have to be exactly the same. I'm just tired of all the complaining...Give me a good movie, that's not exactly like the comics, and I'll still enjoy it. The only time I have complaints are when the movies just aren't very good, such as X-Men 3.

And unlike Brett Ratner, Trank has actually made a good film before, so I've not completely given up the hope that this might turn out better than most think.

If the next trailer or two are even halfway decent, I'm planning to buy a ticket to this movie and see it, mostly just to spite the haters. (I don't go to the cinema very often.)

No one replied after I posted the news, so the "people" you're talking about is clearly me. Show me where I complained or sounded negative.

What's unreasonable about saying "we'll see"?

What's unreasonable about saying "I hope the uniforms aren't seen as cameos at the very end"? You call that complaining and being negative? It means exactly what it says: I hope the uniforms aren't only cameos at the end.

I said I would like it if they had their classic costumes. I didn't say, or even imply, that the movie would be bad if they didn't have their classic costumes.

Did the Fantastic Four have their costumes in the first issue of the comic?

It's still unacceptable - you put the thought into my head and I attacked. Everyone in here - both supporters and haters of Trask's FF4 have very sensitive nerves. We all on the edge.
