I was at work last night, and my son apparently tried to turn off the receiver (Onkyo 605s) I have no idea what he did, but now I get no sound whatsoever thru my directv HD receiver.. when I play the PS3 everything is fine. I have both the PS3 and the Directv hd receiver hooked up thru HDMI. everything appears to be set up correctly, but I am kind of stumped as to why its giving me such grief, anyone have a suggestion ???

same has happened to me..... can't wait to put this in a room where no kiddies can access it!!!!
I'd recommend looking at the surround mode etc.. that "THAT" particular input (cable/sat) is set to.... that's usually how mine gets all fouled up. |

That's funny. We have a couple of friends that can't seem to keep their hands off my remotes when they come over. I yelled at one when they screwed up my settings. The last time they came over we were having a barbecue so my wife and I hid all the remotes. They weren't able to mess with anything.

That's when they messed with my remotes. I pulled a Barny Fife on them and nipped it in the bud. The next time we had a party I had my wife tell them that the party was outside and we didn't want anyone hanging out in the house. That's when she decided to hide the remotes. This time one stayed outside and the other one disappeared. I went inside and found him sitting on the recliner reading a magazine. He looked as though he was disappointed that he couldn't find the harmony in the wedge where I usually keep it. At least it kept him from messing with my stuff. These individuals don't usually get invited over anymore. Nip it, Nip it, Nip it. ![]() The best one was when my sister came to visit the new house for the first time and she brought her 2 little ankle biters with her. My one nephew was just walking the other was still crawling and trying to pull up on stuff. So they are grabbing everything, going for the T.V. etc. I keep grabbing them before they can't get to it and they are throwing a fit. My sister says to me that we need to childproof the house while they are there. I looked at her and said hell no, they're your kids you need to keep an eye on them like I did with mine years before. She's the kind of parent that thinks you should let your kids do whatever they want. I told her she could do that at her house but not mine. needless to say it was a faily short visit. Nip it, Nip it, Nip it. Last edited by obiwopkenobi62; 07-31-2008 at 04:08 PM. Reason: UPDATE |

Not familiar with the HD set top box, but is it possible he switched the sound output format on that and not on the receiver?

Absolutely. The way I see it is I've worked hard to get where I am and take great care of my things. When my sister said that crap to me I was like hell no. Her kids, her responsibility. I personally don't care who it is, whether it's friends or relatives, RESPECT MY hOME AND MY THINGS. If I go to someones house I don't expect them to change what they're doing for me. My sisters mentality is a lot of peoples mentality lately. Just let the little ones do whatever they want. If you don't teach them the difference between right an wrong they grow up as useless idiots and don't have any respect for anything. I taught my son the way my parents raised me. Respect other peoples things. Also control your ankle biters. |

Like some say it could be the digital/analong inputs set up is messed up. Also check your speakers are not in mute. Once fixed locked the setting through the on screen menu on your onkyo receiver. good luck.
