A bold move not to show any action, I like it.

Well hopefully this ties up the Casino Royale/Quantum of Solace plotline with Quantum.

No action at all, but I like how they play the dark mystery route with this one. Looks very bleak (in a good way) and atmospheric. Love the cinematography and Waltz's appearance at the end. I am SO ready for this movie

All three Craig as Bond movies are excellent and this one looks like it will be too. Can't wait.

Hopefully Apple Trailers will get the teaser as well. What a piss quality, only 30Mb in size.

Default SPECTRE: The James Bond 24 Opening Sequence Revealed!

Warning: Spoilers for the opening sequence of Spectre follow...

[Show spoiler]Spectre opens with a chase sequence, as one might expect. It begins by following 007 and the gorgeous Estrella (played by Mexican actress Stephanie Sigman), who are walking down the Day of the Dead parade. The pair weave their way through this crowd and make their way into a hotel. (The same hotel that we’ve been able to view the filming in the square, which also served as a location in previous Bond actioneer The Living Daylights.)

007 and Estrella head to the lady’s room – where Estrella thinks she may be taking Bond to bed. He’s more interested in gaining access to the view from her window, however. He sees two baddies across the way having a conversation and quickly prevents a catastrophe. He kills one while the other villain runs. Bond jumps out of the window and there’s a chase which causes a building to explode. After which they both end up—boom—on the ground…and the foot chase begins.

The baddie on the run is called Sciarra (played by Italian actor Alessandro Cremona). The production has spent the last several days shooting Bond chasing Sciarra through the Day of the Dead parade in the square.

Sciarra calls for backup…cue a helicopter coming down the street. The helicopter lands, Sciarra jumps on, Bond follows and the helicopter goes up. Thus begins a hand-to-hand fight sequence mid-flight on the helicopter.

Looks good. Just wish Quantum of Solace didn't exist. That was so bad.

It's interesting to look back at the impact of the writer's strike now that it's 7 years past.

It's not really necessary, and a lot of it is embellished from the books, which if I remember didn't give much away. Most of the back story was from the obituary and wasn't that in the press and not in the books?

I don't want Bond to become the pre-destined chosen-one type hero which plagues far too many movies. All we need is a 007 shaped birthmark on his right butt cheek ...

I think everyone is tired of delving into Bond's past now. At least I hope so. It's wearing a bit thin as an "automatic drama generator" device. That being said, a few shots in this were gorgeous, and seeing a SPECTRE meeting is like a fanboy's dream come true.

Not stoked that Waltz's backstory might be extremely contrived, but I"m keeping my expectations up nonetheless.

Its all about how it plays in the movie. Silva's plan in Skyfall was extremely contrived, but it played well in the movie, at least I thought so.

Some people might be bugged by how Waltz plays into Bond's past, but I don't see how it can be really anything different than something like the dynamic between Bond and Alec in Goldeneye, and that worked quite well.

[Show spoiler]Be prepared to walk out of the theatre because according to the leaked script, that's exactly who he is. Everything in the teaser was accurate to the leaked script so unless there were last-minute rewrites, Spectre will be ripped to shreds when people finally see it.

Here's my thoughts based on the trailer, cast list, and what I know of Bond lore, I haven't read the script but I'm pretty sure I am on the right track.

[Show spoiler]It looks like they are basing Spectre off of some plot points in the Fleming short story Octopussy. I haven't read the stories, but I am familiar with their plot points based on the synopses of them.

Someone can feel free to correct me if I am wrong on some details, but I believe in that story Bond takes a case based on the discovery of the body of Hannes Oberhauser, who had been a friend and mentor to Bond, almost like a father figure, at one point in his life.

In the trailer it shows a document that Bond's aunt Charmain Bond, gave H. Oberhauser guardianship of Bond. We also see a photo of an adult who looks like Christoph Waltz and two male kids, one is obviously Bond and the other is likely the child of Oberhauser. This can be inferred from the cast list stating that Waltz's is playing a character named Oberhauser.

So, if Waltz is anything to Bond in the movie, he is the son of his one time guardian. At most, like a step-brother. So I don't really see the problem if that is the case.

I actually really like the Octopussy connection a lot, it shows that they are using Fleming as inspiration.

Here's the link to the leaked script details. You can draw your own conclusions:
