According to the PS3, you have to set the resolution to the correct setting or the screen will go blank. If your tv is 1080i, then I strongly recommend you to adjust the settings on your tv and blu-ray player to match each other. If you just have a standalone blu-ray player, it might adjust the resolution automatically without the screen going blank.
