Hey guys. I'm from Australia and have just bought my first HDTV and PS3. I bought a Sony Bravia KDL40V4000 as the price was right and I read a few really positive reviews on this TV. I also bought a US version 80GB PS3 as we don't get the 80GB version here in Australia and it worked out cheaper than the crappy 40GB which is available locally. I plan to import all my dvd's anyway so the fact that the PS3 is NTSC doesn't bother me and all games from all regions work so that's not an issue. The biggest problem I am having is selecting a HDMI cable for my setup. My TV is wall mounted so I need a cable which is 8FT min in length. I have done so much reading it's not funny but I am still confused about which cable to select. I was originally sold on a Monster cable but after reading a lot about the company and looking at the ridiculous prices I have decided not to buy one of their products. It seems that anything over 6FT in length requires a high speed cable and I can't get my head around which one to choose. If someone could explain to me what kind of cable would be suitable and also link to a cable that will work that would be great. I don't mind paying for quality, I just want this cable to work perfectly and give me the best picture possible. Thanks guys.

Rule of thumb with HDMI cables: If it delivers video AND audio without loss of quality, don't mess with it.
Here's one from Monoprice.com for US$10.64. Get two or three, just in case. The TRICK is getting help from a buddy from the US to ship it to you since they don't ship overseas. ![]() But they make good cables and they work. fuad |

They don't ship overseas?
I have been searching around to see if they did and noticed a few reviews from people here in Australia. I might have to email them. This is what I am looking at http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...t=1#largeimage |

That cable is for in wall installation. Is that what you need? If not, I'd go for these: http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...seq=1&format=2 They're a lot cheaper and have great user reviews. They have 10 foot cables too. The link I posted is a 6 foot cable. If you haven't found anybody to ship to you, I will if you want. Last edited by MarkG; 08-03-2008 at 10:38 PM. |
