The Fast and the Furious is the Prologue, the Beginning
2 Fast 2 Furious and Tokyo Drift are the Spin Offs Fast & Furious is the Reboot and the Revenge Thriller Fast Five is the Heist Movie Furious 6 is the Superhero Movie Furious Seven is the Epic and the Epilogue Ending of the Series. FURIOUS SEVEN is so ridiculous and so fun to watch that I could just give two craps about it's flaws. This is the ultimate tongue in cheek franchise with a heart of gold. As some one who felt that FURIOUS 6 was the perfect ending to the series, I didn't realize how much I needed this epilogue, FURIOUS SEVEN. And the undercurrent of tragedy surrounding Paul Walker makes the point even more crystal clear. Yeah, this film is meant to start a new trilogy. Bullshit. This is the finale and the way it ends; POWERFUL. Hats off to Universal and Family of the Fast and Furious franchise. One of the most enjoyable and poignant cinematic stories I've ever had the pleasure of watching. Rest in Peace, Paul. Last edited by Jumpman; 04-03-2015 at 09:35 AM. |

I stand utterly corrected.
Like QUANTUM OF SOLACE is an emotional epilogue to CASINO ROYALE, this film is an emotional epilogue to the whole series. There's one emotional payoff I wasn't expected that sent me over the edge of pure joy and warmth. Still, the highlight has to be the end of the film. Oh man, that left me in tears. And hats off to Jordana Brewster. From articles, it seems she never shot anything with Paul and she's got some heavy material to play off him and it's ****ing sad to watch. A true pro, she is with what she did in this film. |

James Wan does some awesome shit in this flick. The middle set piece in this film is the best set piece of the series. And in the climax, Brian has a fantastic call back to the original film. You'll know it when you see it.

Boy was this movie bad....
I have always loved the over the top in this series but man the final action sequence of this film is a little too much as well as the final battle. [Show spoiler] The whole movie was just stale. Ludacris has overstayed his welcome in this series and Tyrese just didn't seem interested. The next film just needs to be Diesel and a brand new cast for this series to feel fresh again. Just saw it in IMAX. Too much CGI, too much shaky cam, too many quick cuts. Some of the fight scenes were very incoherent and hard to watch as were some of the car action scenes. This felt way too similar to Five and Six. I think Justin Lin did a much better job directing these films compared to Jams Wan. I didn't hate this film, it was just more of the same thing. It did have a really nice ending for Paul Walker though and I really appreciated it. However I think Five is the best one in the series and this one was a little bit better than Six but not much. 3/5 stars.
edit. Kurt Russell was easily the best part of this movie. I am so glad he had a lot more screen time compared to The Rock. |
