Wonder if I'll have to wait? I ordered after the US got delayed.

Well...just checked, and it shipped! Yipee!

I see that Eaten Alive is up on Amazon already but for 25 quid! Buckaroo Banzai is the only other announcement I'm interested in - I've wanted to see that film forever.

Will be ordering Eaten Alive closer to release. Also, as a huge 80s slasher fan, I can't wait for Blood Rage! I live for announcements like this! Hoping they truly do have The Mutilator, another one I'm excited for!

looking forward to the US titles dropping through my mailbox (it's been great so far as an Indiegogo supporter) and out of the UK bunch I will pick up Buckaroo Banzai at some point. Quite happy with my Criterion 3 Women (terrific film btw) and already have Mona Lisa ordered as part of the boxset.

I will double dip, and there will be a reason. 3 Women is my #4 movie of all time, so I gotta have all the extras for it, even though the ones on this Arrow release won't beat the Altman commentary recorded exclusively for Criterion. Plus, judging by their other comparisons, I imagine that the Arrow will have slightly better image quality/grain structure. And it will be nice to have region security for this movie in case my region free Oppo breaks down again.

Will have a 2 disc Criterion case ready for it to make a custom case to hold both releases ready for the Arrow release.

Great film, but there's many other Altmans that need an HD release: Images, McCabe & Mrs Miller, A Wedding, Short Cuts chief among them.

I imagine it's rights issues.

Still, strong film for those who are region-locked or don't want to splash out on the Criterion.
Yeah, it could definitely be rights issues. The Images DVD has been OOP in the US for a while now and 3 Women itself has never seen release on home video for almost 30 years since its release because of rights issues (something about the music in it, I think I've read somewhere), until the Criterion DVD in 2004. And the blu ray of The Player in the US has been OOP for a while now and is being sold for very high prices on amazon and eBay. So something weird is going on with Altman releases, I wish Criterion or someone would explain in detail what exactly.

I don't even know who has the rights for 3 Women in the UK/Europe. I assume it's Fox like in the US, so I don't know if for example all Fox titles released by Criterion are potential Arrow releases.

And I see that Videodrome has become to the monthly Arrow announcement reactions what Mulholland Drive is to the Criterion announcement reactions in terms of complaints that it wasn't in the lineup.

I'm sure that the Arrow release of Videodrome will be great, but I can't imagine it coming close to the Criterion in terms of extras with all the exclusive extras it has.

Fox own 3 Women outright (they financed it). Altman made a 5 pictures deal with them in 1976 through his own company Lions Gate Film which went on to include A Wedding, Quintet, A Perfect Couple & Health.

Given Fox's willingness to allow independent companies to release there films I doubt there would be any problems with Arrow or MoC acquiring the rights to all or any of the other 4 if they so desired.

I must admit i'm most looking forward to Eaten Alive. Glad Arrow are releasing it as I was waiting for more details on the Australian import until I heard of this. Cemetery Without Crosses should be a good one too. I habe only ever owned a bootleg of this.

I'm overjoyed that Videodrome is being released in August. I wonder who will release the recent TIFF restoration of Dead Ringers though?.

No they are dragging their feet alright. I ordered on Monday and still hasn't been dispatched - looks like the Naked City is 'stock on order'

TIFF restored "Dead Ringers"? I never knew that. I've never seen the film but by all accounts it is brilliant. Hope Arrow are on the case for it. Hopefully the next Cronenberg Blu-ray from them after "Videodrome".

Bad news for Corman fans.
The Premature Burial has been passed as a 15 for a dvd release from Final Cut.

Arrow passed it up because the master was unacceptable. The German Blu-ray is definitely an upscale. So it makes sense really. The upcoming Kino release will hopefully be a new master.

I ordered mine on 30th March and was dispatched the following day. Should be here tomorrow, hopefully (I chose the free 2nd Class option).

I don't suppose Road House (1989) is one for the taking?

I see that Hollywood Classics do have it for Home Video licensing.

I'm surprised it hasn't had BD release over here yet. It's being released in Germany for the first time next month with a reversible cover with the original poster artwork. Only extra is a trailer, so I'd love to see someone put out a special edition blu-ray, and not a version like the US release that had the dvd included so they didn't need to put the extras on the blu-ray. Crazy.
